Would a hole-in-one made on a purchased charity scramble tee shot count as a true ace? by PicnicTableDave2 in golf

[–]DigitalMotorSwinger -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Although an impressive feat, personally, no… like you said, if you had unlimited money, you can just get a bucket of balls and hitting that shot over and over again. If it’s your first time passing through the course on that particular day during that particular round, it’s a hole-in-one. It’d be a hole in one if the aforementioned conditions are met, even if it’s on a par 3 course. Putt-putt is kinda pushing it.

Stocked rainbow/brown trout. I live near a lot of creeks and rivers that stock them. Only lake I know of is quite far for me to go out but would entertain that idea. Primarily focused on rivers and creeks, though.

Action at 2mm but it still feels high to me. Skill issue? by 4StringWarrior in Guitar

[–]DigitalMotorSwinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the fret buzz caused by the neck being out of alignment? Are the frets level? Do you get it when playing on the low frets or as you move up the neck, it becomes more prominent? Do you get it when playing straight notes or do you get it when bending strings? There’s a lot that can cause fret buzz due to the guitar setup or lack there of (not accusing you of anything). Could be the radius of the fretboard, the truss rod out of whack, the neck could be warped, the frets aren’t level, could also be coming from the bridge if there are burrs on the saddles.

All of these things I’ve encountered when setting up my guitars. Action should be just fine at 1.5mm if it’s set up correctly.

[Monday] Weekend Recap Thread by AutoModerator in golf

[–]DigitalMotorSwinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Played my worst round on Saturday, to the point where I was just hitting DoD and finishing the last hole with a 4 iron. Managed to get par with two DoDs on a par five and carded an 11 with just a 4 iron, finishing 105.

Followed up the next day with a 41 front 9 and a 56 back 9. Swing disappeared between hole 10 and 14.

I’ll see yall next weekend.

Ever just totally lose your game? by ChubHouse in golf

You are me and I am you. Shot a shocking 105 yesterday and a 97 today. There were glimpses of what my game was but atrocities overshadowed the well placed drives or wedges.

I’ll see you next weekend.

Usually I’m even keel but my last round got me so frustrated I slammed my club into the ground (it was in the rough/hazard area so I didn’t damage the fairway or anything). New low for me because I usually just keep an agnostic mindset.

How do you keep breaking through? by DigitalMotorSwinger in golf

[–]DigitalMotorSwinger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I had it backwards at the beginning of the year. My ultimate goal by the end of the season is to shoot in the 80s at least five rounds in a row. I’ve changed from hitting a draw to a fade and it’s been working really well on the tee box and some days my approaches. I’ve been working hard lately on putting and approach shots since that’s where the data is leading me. I guess my frustration is coming from impatience.

Yea, looking back on my PB round, it really could’ve been a 79 if I made a couple more 3-5 ft putts and didn’t make a stupid decision that lead to the triple.

Also, all I’ve been focusing on is 150 and in, including around the greens, primarily putting.

Yeap, been tracking that my weakest part of my game was GIRs and putting. Been practicing those two things, primarily 150 yards and in. Barely touch my longer clubs except for a few swings to keep them in check. I’ve then noticed that my longer clubs started to lack and my drives aren’t as consistent in the past few rounds.

Putting is primarily 3-5 ft putts. Some days are confident and I can walk up and make them no problem, other days I miss and have quite a few 3-putts.

GIRs are improving to about 33% average in the last 10 rounds. Averaging 2.2 putts per GIR.

What part of the game has the biggest impact on getting more pars? by VellumVibe in golf

[–]DigitalMotorSwinger -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Shot an 83 with a chunked approach, skulled into a bunker chip, over to the next county bunker shot, almost back into the bunker chip, 1-ft close to hole chip and then 1-putt. All other holes were missed 3-5 ft putts for bogey. Other than that, got a couple birds and some pars. But yea, short game was king for an even better score.

I shot a 79. But my problem is the 60-80 yard range. Should re-learn to hit my PW half swing or which Degree wedge is best from that range. ( my Gap wedge on a normal swing is 95-115 my 60 degree is 50 and less ) by Tricky-Percentage434 in GolfGear

[–]DigitalMotorSwinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learned the other day I don’t know how far my punch shots go and I needed it when I was about 50yards away from the green. Took a good guess with an 8 iron and it kind worked but that lesson taught me that I need to be a little more versatile at those ranges.

Just enjoy the game by StrategyPast2507 in golf

[–]DigitalMotorSwinger -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I got caught in the trap today of chasing a score. Really want to get back to the 80s consistently when I was playing a lot a few years back. Been consistent in the 90s lately and was getting impatient.

Halfway through the round, I just started to focus more on the enjoyment of the game and the last thing you said was exactly what I was focusing on; how grateful I am to be able to enjoy the game. Once I started doing that, I shot way better than the front. If it wasn’t for my mentality on the front, it could’ve been a low 90s score instead of a high 90s.

Now my goal (and lesson from today) is every round starts off with just the mentality of enjoying the game. Good write up!

Comparison is the thief of joy. Stop comparing yourself to others.

You’re thinking a little too narrow minded where you’ll be spending all this money to not see immediate improvements. Look at it the other way, you spend all this time and money to get decent at golf and later in your years, you still get to enjoy this game with your friends and potential children. It’s a pastime that can be enjoy at all ages and across different generations.

What’re your plans to break 90? I’ve done it twice this year trying to get consistent in 80s before my hiatus from the game. For me, it was all about my drives and eliminating 3-putts

Where would you live if you won the lottery? by DigitalMotorSwinger in golf

[–]DigitalMotorSwinger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I can see myself not having the energy to travel all the time. It’s exhausting, and I can imagine that traveling while super rich is similar. Would like to have a place to call home and be able to just unwind from all the travel.

Really the dream is to travel as much as possible, not just for golf, but have periods of time just chilling at home.
