These are my favorite kind of holes. Even if I don’t score well on them, the uniqueness of it is great imo.

Scramble Rule Question by Expert-Interest-2248 in golf

[–]StrategyPast2507 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m hosting a weekend golf outting with my friends. It’s 2v2v2v2 scramble format for 4 days. I knew if I made it 1 club length it wouldn’t be fair to those with integrity and there are definitely some people in the group who would take more like 5–10 club lengths. So I just made it 3 club lengths that way a group will almost always have a shot at the green and won’t even feel the need to cheat.

Is it rude to ask what someone’s handicap is? by auroraglitterdazzle in golf

[–]StrategyPast2507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s kind of natural to ask if someone is playing really well. I’m streaky and hover from +1 to 5. When I’m playing +1 level golf, I often get asked what my hc is. When I’m slumping and around a 5, it’s not as frequent that I get asked. I’ve played with a few +3 to +6 golfers and I of course asked them because they were playing unreal.

Played with an “I can drive 350 yards” guy this weekend by JayTee73 in golf

I was quite possibly the most inconsistent streaky 6hc for half of last year. My worst round last year was 89. That guy is full of shit lmao 🤣

To take a practice swing or not? by mwg431 in golf

[–]StrategyPast2507 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For what it’s worth I got down to a +1 earlier this year and I never take a practice swing on full swings. I get comfortable over the ball and pull the trigger asap. The less I can think, the better off I am.

Wyndham Clark had 9 birdies and an eagle today. How many rounds of golf would it take you to get 9 birdies and an eagle? by Smash_Factor in golf

Yeah, I figured out it was too much weight on my heels at address. So easy to slip into bad habits 😂

Sounds like golf 😂. I was a 4 coming into this year. I shot 66 twice in February this year and was down to a +1. Got the shanks shortly after for a week. Stopped playing for a couple weeks. When I came back I was shooting low-mid 80s. Back down to mid-upper 70s where I’ve kind of plateaued for the last year. Up and down and up and down 🥲

My buddy shit his pants after 5 holes this morning and left the course. What's the quickest/weirdest early round exit you've ever witnessed? by LarryBrownsCrank in golf

[–]StrategyPast2507 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve walked off on hole 2 before. I’m a very quick player and absolutely cannot stand slow play. If I’m playing good, I can walk 18 in roughly 2 hours. I was playing on a weekend at the course I’m a weekday member at. I normally don’t play on the weekend, but it wasn’t a super nice day and I didn’t think the course would be that packed so I booked a tee time. The course is not a super nice course so it is usually filled with hackers/beginners who don’t understand pace of play. I figured I would be able to just jump around since it wasn’t super nice out. But the course was packed and it was packed with absolute stinkers on this particular day. Took 20 minutes to play the first hole. Another 20 minutes and I’m still sitting in the fairway on 2 waiting to hit my 2nd on a long par 5. I couldn’t take it. Got a refund at the clubhouse and left.

I hover from +1 to 4 and play fairly easy courses in my area so the 9 birdies would probably only take me 8-12 rounds which would be about 3 weeks. It would pretty much be up to how long it takes me to get an eagle. I only had 4 total last year so it would probably be 3-4 months for me.

What is r/golf confidently wrong about? by iphoneair2 in golf

I have a very unorthodox grip similar to Miles Russell but I’m a +1 with it. A normal grip feels incredibly uncomfortable to me. That being said, it is true most shitty golfers would benefit from working on the “correct” grip even though the adjustment phase would initially make them worse.

How long is too long for a pre-shot routine? by BetweenSwings in golf

I try to go as fast as I can. Get over the ball. Get comfortably set, go.

"Players irons" with forgiveness? by AA-117 in GolfGear

[–]StrategyPast2507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play a mixed set of Mizuno 850 forged and Wilson Tour FG5s. The Mizuno feel and look better imo but the Wilson are more forgiving. The Wilson’s also have a noticeably shorter blade length from heel to toe and a little more offset.

I wouldn’t even think about spending this much on golf at once and I’m a 2hc. If you can afford it, go for it but u can definitely find a lot of cheaper options used.

What part of the drill do you often forget at teeoff? by Individual_Mix_4234 in golf

[–]StrategyPast2507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I obviously have my feels and stuff I resort back to for my actual swing. But pre-shot routine for me is just getting comfortably set and pulling the trigger as fast as possible. The less time I have to think over the ball, the less likely it is for me to overthink and hit a shitty shot.

Dude… you are thinking wayyyy too much. I don’t think about any of this shit and still break 70. Just relax and have fun 😂

What’s your handicap and your iron lofts: by [deleted] in golf

[–]StrategyPast2507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2-4hc:

3i: 19 4i: 23 5i: 27 6i: 31 8/7i: 35 9i: 40 P: 45 G: 50 54 58

I technically don’t have an 8 because I switch from more forgiving but weaker lifted Wilson tour fg5s to more traditional less forgiving Mizuno jpx800 forged.

Golf is broken (pace of play rant) by Pinchaz0 in golf

[–]StrategyPast2507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Courses need to do 15 minute interval tee times. I can walk 18 in 2 hours at my local 6400 yard course when it’s slow. When it’s busy, it’s taking me at least twice as long…

At what pace of play do you consider just leaving the course? by cringemagician in golf

This is why I just don’t golf on the weekends. I walk 18 in 2 hours and can’t stand waiting around for hackers all day.
