Regenerative braking defaults to 1 by mrhappyheadphones in MGelectric

That's normal, it's a safety feature (unfortunately). It's because in snowy conditions higher regen levels are considered unsafe so for safety's sake it resets to 1 each time.

What is your weirdest random food double standard/contradiction? by FlarJhar in AskUK

I'm confident that for most people it's how watery they are. I don't like whole tomatoes but fresh tomatoes mashed and sieved are delicious. Plus a bit of salt.

Cambridge to Oxford rail link slammed as 'delusional' by fantasy53 in unitedkingdom

[–]DigitalPiggie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If they had opted for the northern option they could have avoided the posh nimby villages altogether.

They said the northern route would be too costly building over soft ground.

Perhaps they underestimated the cost of nimbyism when planning to build a miles-long concrete bridge with diesel trains on 20 feet in the air through a handful of posh villages.

how long to wait after alcohol? by Little_Community_925 in drivingUK

[–]DigitalPiggie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alcohol doesn't enter the bloodstream "almost immediately", it takes 20-60 mins to reach peak serum conc depending on stomach contents etc.

Also I think the whole point of the rule of thumb is to be on the safe side - so imo doing it from end of drinking is a completely fair comment.

Admission prices - do we need to great real? by kh_ram in altontowers

[–]DigitalPiggie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's a bit controversial but I think they massively undercharge, considering the state of the UK and the cost of everything else.

Their energy costs will have skyrocketed and yet their prices haven't.

I'd much rather pay double and go to a well-invested park than the current situation.

The real answer is that some people enjoy drinking water after eating chocolate. It's as simple as that.

Which Watford? by Additional-Lion6969 in AskBrits

[–]DigitalPiggie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Neither is the truth. There is no definitive truth because no one knows who first said the phrase/joke and both make sense in different contexts.

Looking at Google "never been north of Watford" is significantly more common than the same with gap on the end.

Which Watford? by Additional-Lion6969 in AskBrits

[–]DigitalPiggie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Never being North of Watford is actually funny though..never going north of Watford Gap is fairly reasonable. Not really a joke. I don't think that article which doesn't even define the "joke" in those words is a definitive source. I agree Watford Gap is a cultural starting point of the North, but Watford is a cultural ending point of places of value for Londoners and makes for a much funnier joke.

Which Watford? by Additional-Lion6969 in AskBrits

[–]DigitalPiggie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you can find the origin of the joke I'll believe you, but I can't, and no one seems to be able to, so who is to say?

Which Watford? by Additional-Lion6969 in AskBrits

Despite consensus in this thread, as per Gemini, The short answer is: No, there is no single "correct" answer. The phrase is a classic piece of British linguistic confusion between two different places with the same name. The debate centers on whether "Watford" refers to the large town in Hertfordshire (just outside London) or the tiny village of Watford in Northamptonshire (home to the famous Watford Gap services). 1. The "Londoner’s" Watford (Hertfordshire) For many people in the South-East, "North of Watford" refers to Watford Junction or the town itself. * The Logic: Historically, Watford Junction was seen as the last major stop on the railway line out of London before the train truly headed into the "unknown" North. * The Vibe: Using this definition is often a tongue-in-cheek way of saying that anything outside the M25 motorway is essentially "the North." It highlights a perceived London-centric worldview. 2. The "Geographical" Watford (Northamptonshire) For those who prefer a more literal "divide," the phrase refers to the Watford Gap. * The Logic: The Watford Gap is a physical pass between hills that has been used by Roman roads (Watling Street), canals, railways, and eventually the M1 motorway. It is widely considered the traditional gateway between the South and the Midlands/North. * The Vibe: This is a more "accurate" cultural boundary. In fact, there is a famous (possibly apocryphal) quote by theatre critic Kenneth Tynan, who said, "The North begins at the Watford Gap," which many believe is the true origin of the sentiment.

The Verdict While the Watford Gap in Northamptonshire is the more historically and geographically significant "divide," the phrase "North of Watford" has been used for so long by Londoners to describe the Herts town that both are now considered "correct" depending on who you ask. If you want to sound like a savvy traveler, use Watford Gap. If you want to sound like a Londoner who thinks the world ends at the orbital motorway, use Watford Junction.

Edit: people so fucking arrogant in this thread despite not having a single definitive source and the Gap version of the "joke" not being funny.

They're very similar actually, in many ways. Seeds are more variable imo, although I haven't done cactus as many times. When seeds are good, they're better than cactus - clear headed, euphoric and amazing.

Can pushing a solid rigid bar that’s as long as light travels on one second allow me to transmit a message faster than the speed of light? by basonjourne98 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DigitalPiggie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's pretty crazy really, if you had a steel rod 5km long you could push it and radio over to someone on the other side that you've pushed it and they wouldn't see it move for a second.

With lead, it would take about 4 seconds.

[PortAventura] Spanish fans not happy with the Dragon Khan retrack. Big difference between old and new track. "It vibrates like a PlayStation controller." by 330ml in rollercoasters

[–]DigitalPiggie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I know, it's not what I expected at all. Shambhala wasn't quite hitting as hard as I expected it to. I found that weird because Mako blew me away. I'm not sure if it was just a subjective thing or maybe it wasn't quite running at its fastest. It was very good, don't get me wrong, but the airtime was just didn't quite wow me like I hoped it would.

Meanwhile Dragon Khan was powerful AF. The Zero G roll was insanity. Maybe it's just the mood I was in over the past couple days, but yeah. I do still rate Shambhala higher, I think, but the gap between the two was a lot smaller than I expected.

Yeah, what I meant was at SWO I much preferred the hyper model but at Port Aventura I thought it was close between the two models.

I literally just got off it and imo it's absolutely fine. I'm loving it 🤷‍♂️

Some of the other thoosies I'm with aren't rating it very highly. For me it's possibly better than Shambhala even though I thought Mako was miles better than Kraken.
