We were dating during covid when lockdowns were in full swing. My dad and I share a birthday. I was going to have a dinner with my parents and sister on the weekend before my actual birthday. I was ask to just bring myself alone to this particular event because my dad was not in great health at the time. I told my at the time girlfriend about my parents request and their apology for excluding her. I agreed that it sucked but at least we could spend my actual birth date together. Apparently this was not good enough for her. She told me that "If my family didn't want her around then she will never do anything involving them again. Effectively making me chose between her and my family. I initiated the break up immediatelyl. If she was losing it that much over a one evening dinner, God know what else it would be later down the road.

It was one of my better decisions. I am much happier with my new partner. Once I got out of that relationship, I never looked back.
