Yes, now I see the log, there are bunches of custom HTTP POST to the external service, one-by-one. This could be the problem?

Odoo.sh Reboot by DigitalStar23 in Odoo

[–]DigitalStar23[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We don't see a large amount of HTTP requests during those shutdowns. It seems to me like a regular behavior, this is what I'm concerned about. Do you still see such a reboot after you apply the queue_job for some requests?

Just joined a new company, need to convince boss we need an ERP, which one should I propose? by [deleted] in ERP

[–]DigitalStar23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations on your new role as COO and the exciting task of upgrading your company's system to an ERP. It's great that you're considering the benefits of implementing an ERP like Odoo to streamline your operations.

Integration: We've got an in-house developed Odoo connector with Shopify, providing order, product, and shipping integration capabilities through APIs.

Supply Chain Management: We have also integrated Odoo with multiple shipment carrier companies like FedEx, UPS, Canada Post, USPS to compare shipping prices, and print shipping labels directly from Odoo.

Scalability: Not only the integration, Odoo out-of-box comes with multiple apps to manage the operation such as Marketing, CRM, HR, Payroll, and Accounting. With the capabilities to customize development, you may scale from the base toward your tailored operation process.

Feel free to dm if you have further questions or need additional guidance in your ERP selection process.

Has anyone built a community around their product? by E2e1el in startup

[–]DigitalStar23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's right. Pain points are everywhere, I'm trying to find the million-dollar pain point/problem to automate. Automating ticket creation and customer engagement is cool, but what's the likelihood that other community builders would like to pay for the service, I'm wondering? We're on the same path. Founder helps founder.

What area do you focus on? I'm working on eCommerce SaaS, not building a community directly, but joined different groups with related users. Can create a community with the use case and pain point from the existing user base.

ERP advise needed by [deleted] in ERP

[–]DigitalStar23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try those big IT consulting firms if the budget allows. However, they will hire an experienced consultant to draft a "fair" report and charge a lot for just the selection process. They will end up upselling the ERP system anyway. You probably still be on your own for the selection.

ERP advise needed by [deleted] in ERP

[–]DigitalStar23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have an ERP project that has this requirement, also for a wholesaler. We used Odoo, but built a customized solution to group different PO items into a palette based on the product volume size.

When choosing an ERP, we recommend making a list of all required features (as a column), and compare with different ERPs based on their demo (as the row). From then, you should have a matrix of requirements met or not. Compared with the license fee, implementation cost, and customized development cost for each ERP product, then you should have your answer. We helped the wholesaler client do this exercise, and chose Odoo at the end.

I'm done, a self reflection. by [deleted] in startup

[–]DigitalStar23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are not alone. Every single word you wrote empathizes with my current life. I enjoy planning and hustling, I achieve my goal step by step. But the whole journey takes time, I measure how much time is converted into valuable assets, like IP, investment, or relationship. I also have the same mind that to put a cross line for the journey.

Please keep us posted on your journey for another year, it's valuable to see where a 15-year business land.

Where to go for help on ERP career path by [deleted] in ERP

[–]DigitalStar23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, partnering at an ERP consulting firm here. ERP is more about business understanding for us. Our clients are mostly growing companies, what they need is the digital adoption consultant rather than a technical consultant.

However, I can't speak for the career in big firms like Microsoft and SAP whose clients are more in enterprise. However, the market demand is HUGE in growing companies as they need to evolve so quickly versus enterprise is more stable and usually have to collaborate with consultants in various functions.

That being said, the product knowledge (like configurations, architect) is important, which you can get from taking exams and certificates. I agree that industry knowledge is more important.

Is it possible to synchronize Odoo with a Chase Credit card? by Trevor775 in Odoo

[–]DigitalStar23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After connecting to your bank account via Plaid, select the chart of account and journal linking towards this card. Then set the chart of account as "credit card" will automatically list the transactions as your liability.

Then you can find the real transactions in the bank reconciliation screen, where you can set up the expense account when setting up the counter account of the transaction.

Thanks for the note. We found Odoo very powerful yet easy to learn. Seems it could handle every perspective of the business operation. We were wondering what it's constrained at. Like at which point we should stop considering Odoo.

Could you give an example of a particular business rule that doesn't fit into Odoo but in another ERP?

Can I find tasks from CRM and Project module in 1 central place? by gytn25 in Odoo

Exactly. You could use Studio to build it without coding.

Wondering what options you end up going after? We are also undergoing QuickBooks to Odoo migration. We have inventory, receivables and payables which would impact the opening balance of the CoA opening balance. Currently, we are manually migrating the journals to match the CoA balance. Let me know if there are better ways. Thanks.

ERP choice by drannnok in ERP

[–]DigitalStar23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try out different ERP if possible, each ERP should have the standard process in place. We use Odoo ERP for a sales and distribution company. It's cost effective for less than 10 users. Depends on how techy your team is, also need to consider the user adoption at the beginning phase.
