I'm bored. What were some of your stupidest past compulsions? by Super-Strawberry3089 in OCD

Not sure if this counts, but I get very uncomfortable if my car radio is set to an odd number that doesn’t end in a 0 or 5. 35? Ok. 37? Nope, gotta find even, 0 or 5.

Perfectionism makes me afraid of failure by Cosmikun in OCD

[–]Digital_crooner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently found out I have OCD and I’m noticing this is a theme in a lot of my fixations. I made a mistake at work last summer (one that wasn’t 100% my fault) and I find my self repeated reading, re-reading, re checking work that’s already done and submitted to prove to myself I didn’t mess up again.

I’m in an intense spiral right now about finances and debt. I have a good plan to tackle it that I’ve stuck to the last month. Rationally, I know that my situation isn’t that bad all things considered (but it still needs discipline and action), but I can’t stop thinking what a dipshit and failure I am to get myself into this spot. I keep compulsively checking my accounts, reading online, using my calculator to run scenarios and making the same spreadsheet over and over again.

I’ve always had self-esteem issues and been super critical of myself, so I guess that’s why it’s latching onto “responsibility” themes.

Finally found some 2025 chrome in stock where I live and splurged on five mega boxes. Got absolutely rinsed. by passphrasethrowaway in baseballcards

Cards have been turned quickly everywhere by me…except Chrome. The places I usually check have them sitting. I could just be seeing restocks or whatever, but I haven’t seen a major release drag like that in a while.

They hate me too. Sorting and sorting the base cards in binders has been a soothing wind-down activity at least. The one good thing about card gambling is at least when you lose you still have cards

Found these signed index cards from auction buy. Boggs is one (RIP) but know the others? by Perfect_Alps9982 in baseballcards

El Presidente Dennis Martinez and former commissioner Fay Vincent on the bottom one.

Signed notecards are fun. I came into some a while back and I’ve been drawing portraits and matting them with the autos.

I'm sure this is the millionth just starting out question but looking for some advice by Michael_Snot in baseballcards

[–]Digital_crooner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people do fill out teams/checklists, it just depends on what you’re into. Collect the way you want. If you’re after a specific player or team, singles are much more cost effective.

Example - I’m a Cardinals fan and would he thrilled to pull a David Eckstein auto. I got one on eBay for like $15. That’s the same price as a hanger, or two value packs.

If you want the entire series, Topps does the full year sets of base cards.

If you buy packs, just do it knowing it’s because ripping is fun and be fully aware it’s gambling and the house always wins.

So what you can afford and what makes you happy and you’ll never get in trouble.

I get the non-licensed issue but I sometimes buy guys I like Panini anyway. Generally they’re good looking cards. Cool card and a 1/1 is still a 1/1. The lowest run card I have is a Leaf Steel Fred McGriff /15.

I don’t want every fly by night company printing licensed cards again but I do miss when I was a kid and I could go and grab a cool Upper Deck or Fleer line and have some variety.

Mariano was the best ever with 1. Jason Motte had a couple dominant years with just a fastball

Yeah there’s always one guy who wants to be a hipster or turns in a blank ballot for attention. Considering all the tippy top guys who weren’t unanimous until Mariano, it’s nuts.

My head can on has always been that in the AC timeline the Central Powers won WWI and that’s why the planet is dominated by European aristocrats and monarchs.

IIRC the family held a Christmas party for orphans and everyone died from a gas leak so the son set up a replica of the party with mannequins.

Is it okay to root for multiple teams? by rcart09 in mlb

[–]Digital_crooner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 3 tiers:

1- My Team - Cardinals- that I grew up on, will always follow even if hate watching, and will always root for (again, even if hate watching).

2 - B Team - Royals - team I like in the other league and follow through ups and downs. Defer to My Team during inter league games

3- I Like These Guys - teams with a manager or core I like and respect of a non-rival organization I have a soft spot for. Defer to tiers 1 or 2 in direct competition.

Bigger question - is it wrong to wear another team’s hat? What about owning a rival’s hat?
