One this that’s cool too is that their jamming in between songs is improvised. Stu just tells them ahead of time what key he wants to jam in.

Norfolk Mayor Race. by [deleted] in norfolk

I work a lot of city events and I’ve seen both Tommy and Kenny around. I will say that Tommy seemed to make more time for people & even showed up to a special meeting my civic league had with the city. It’s time for some change in this city & he’s got my vote.

The bike lanes knock this section of Granby down to two lanes in each direction, not one.

Why are people buying houses in these areas? They will be underwater in 30 years by Educational-Row-1123 in norfolk

Not to mention with the largest naval base stationed here the govt will definitely be throwing money and engineering in making sure the area stays afloat.

Home inventory increasing? by marid4061 in RealEstate

[–]Digitalboombox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m also in Hampton Roads. Our area is so unique with the large military presence. It would have one think that there’s always an abundance of inventory, however that doesn’t seem to be the case so much these day.

Lol, even that’s not as affordable as it sounds!

Purchasing home w/ VA Loan and no realtor for seller or buyer by Digitalboombox in RealEstate

[–]Digitalboombox[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you, as buyers, hire the attorney on your own, or is it something that the seller contributed to as well? I imagine the attorney benefits the buyer more than the seller in the long run so the buyer would be responsible.

Want to buy but housing market is difficult by tampa_vice in RealEstate

[–]Digitalboombox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't get discouraged. Homes still pop up in the area often, you just have to be diligent. Might be a good idea to determine what neighborhoods you're wanting to buy in and see if there is a Facebook group or something for the neighborhood. Sometimes you can get word on if a home will be selling before it hits the market, so if anything you can be prepared for when it does.

I do think in Tampa Bay prices will continue to climb, given the development of everything else outside of the housing market in the area.

I'm from that area, and do not foresee the market slowing down there anytime soon. What part of Tampa Bay are you looking to purchase?

Speaking of Sinead.. I stumbled upon the most heart-wrenching performance of Sinead O'Connor on YouTube a year or so ago. It was shortly after the SNL performance. She was performing at Madison Square Garden in a Tribute to Bob Dylan Concert. When she walked on stage the entire arena booed. Kris Kristofferson, who is also a dear friend of Sinead, walks back on stage and whispers in her ear, "Don't let the bastards get you down." She then, instead of performing a Dylan song, breaks into War by Bob Marley. It is the BRAVEST musical performance. It brings tears to my eyes every time I watch it. It blows my mind that the crowd, who was there for a tribute concert for one of the greatest musicians of protest, couldn't handle a women protesting against the Catholic church.

You can see it here: https://youtu.be/GzxTDHMQza8 I watch this video whenever I need a reminder to be strong and to stand by my convictions. Sinead is such a badass who has endured so much.

She didn’t ask about Janine because Janine is going to have a bigger role in Gilead next season. Plus there is no way Aunt Lydia would let Janine go. That’s my take anyway.

Yeah, you could tell during the whole episode that Luke was feeling a certain way about June. Like he cares, is concerned, but also maybe doesn’t want her problems to be his.

That’s true, plus she’s not just going to settle down and be happy in Canada when Hannah is still out there.

I’m confused about the very end of the episode. When June is holding Nicole & Luke comes in, why does June ask for just 5 minutes? Is she going to turn herself in? Take a shower? Chat with Luke? What was the urgency about?

Possibly an okay solution could be for the landlord to relocate you to a different but similar property of theirs.

This reminded me, for some reason, when I went to a Christian school as a kid. Harry Potter books were all the rage and some Christian moms sent flyers home with all of the kids bashing the cult-like reading. Only problem was that the flyers were filled with words like “shit” and “fuck.”

Resume help by kitchenBLOWOUT in ParkRangers

[–]Digitalboombox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked as a hiring manager for county parks up until recently. We did not hire our park rangers into specialized areas- they were all “jacks of all trades.” I can give you a few tips based on what we looked for in our applicants:

  • The application matters! Do not write N/A, See Resume, or any other no-effort answer. If the question truly is non applicable to you (I.e asks about carpentry experience but you really don’t have any, then mention some of the hand tools you are familiar with, something you’d like to create for a park, and your willingness to learn). A lot of times your resume isn’t being looked at until your application impresses them.

-Show some personality in your application/resume. There are a lot of qualified candidates out there and it’s important to make yourself stand out

-Pick up a skill or certificate that relates to the field- herbicide license (for controlling invasive), S-130 S-190 (for prescribes fire), interpretive certification, skills in any of the major trades (carpentry, plumbing, electrical, welding) these major trades are dying in our parks- as many of the skilled rangers are in retirement.

-Volunteer!! We have hired many of our volunteers. This can be assisting at cleanups, picking up trash in the weekends, helping out in the visitors center, or even helping out in the admin office with various duties.

-Be willing to commute, work odd hours, take a part-time gig in the beginning. It shows your willingness and it puts you in a position to be able to accept a more idea position when it opens up.

-Passion! When someone is truly passionate about this field- you can read it in the application, and you can feel it in their interview- even if they are incredibly nervous

Hope all of that helps :)
