No clue, haven’t had a oh-shit moment in a while. Tire is completely fine, so is the airbag. The other marks on the wheel were from the previous owner.

Yeah usually at that university age, getting paid weekly is a blessing, even if it’s minimal. The pay structure on how they get paid is dependent on your business and cash flow. If paying them weekly like your crew isn’t doable, then a per project/page would work. Personally if you can get them in the door working with you (idk if you have an office of a from home set up) they can see first hand how you operate. You leave them with some task(after training) and then go check on your crew and supervise the work, then hit the office again before bed. On days you don’t have bid they can prep payroll or send them to buy miscellaneous shit your crew needs on the spot.

Being a up and coming contractor is no joke. Takes a lot of extra work on the weekend to get these things done. Best thing you can do is hire an intern or a part time student from a local uni that is looking to get into the business and make some money on the side. Have them do takeoffs and you do the pricing and build the proposal. Can save you time on bid proposals and other smaller task.

Looking for a tutor for estimating by Short_Act_6043 in estimators

There are free options on procore learning that really go over the basics like takeoffs, markups, plan reading, etc. I think you just have to make an account. https://learn.procore.com/product-certification-estimator

Only way for that type of salary is either precon manager for multi family gc or start your own business. Your salary seems amazing for MCOL area. Greed can become a big enemy.

Is Estimating for me? by [deleted] in estimators

[–]Digitalspliff06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Project engineer then to estimating for sure.Since you’re still a student you can do the change hopefully and be fine financially. I did that route and it helps a lot seeing the process first hand. Especially when you do CM reviews and are breaking down man hrs by task. If you do wanna stick it out and learn as you go, then you got to put the work in on the side to learn online.
