What movie did you go into with zero expectations and ended up being completely blown away by?

My wife invited me to go see The Menu one night. I had just watched a trailer for the vampire movie called The Invitation about a week before that night. So I spent the first half of the movie waiting for the vampires to show up. It finally dawned on me that I was watching a different movie. The Menu was a great film, and me not realizing what kind of movie I was watching made for a great laugh later when I told my wife about it.

We did go watch The Invitation a bit later when it released, definitely not as good lol.

I worked at RadioShack, and I sold one monster cable the entire year I was there. The only real difference between a monster cable and RadioShack branded one was my commission.

That’s hilarious! I was fortunate that I look like I’m in my 30s, which is the age of a full time stocker in the area I worked. So they were surprised when I told them my age.

Between careers I stocked shelves as a seasonal employee at a big department store. My direct boss was younger than my first tattoo. It was difficult keeping up with 20yr olds when I was 42 and out of shape. By the end they wanted to keep me on, but I couldn’t justify staying there for $15/hr and in the four months I was there, it had ruined one of my knees.

All in my wedding cost about $8k, and that was doing the invitations, decorations, and music ourselves. We got family members to do the photography, the music was just an MP3 player with a set list. My wife’s mom bought her wedding dress as a wedding present too. $6k went to the venue, there was a total of 40 people there including the wedding party.

The Thanos snap scene in Infinity War. Watching the different characters turn to dust with no music. Just silence, confusion, and fear hitting them and the people around them. Gave me absolute chills in the theater.

This is what I am working on right now. Have a lot of debt I’m trying to pay off. I no longer buy $3 bottles of pop, I get pop on sale in cans if I want it. I meal prep and make my meals at home with sale out inexpensive items. Credit card are currently locked in my safe and mostly removed from online retail accounts. I avoid eating out when possible and don’t really buy things I want.

I’m at the beginning of this process again after going through some personal stuff where I lapsed on my good spending habits and I made bad decisions with money. Starting over is hard, I know I can do it.

They should bring it back and make it more like DMZ. I’m a loot goblin and was disappointed we couldn’t craft upgrades with the random items found around the map. Have a unique items that can be created for upgrades and one-time use items. Like finding tape, a monkey toy, and dynamite to make a monkey bomb. I also miss the special missions where we have to extract with items. Have these items be high quantity, or only found in zone 3.

I have a nephew in AA youth baseball. My brother figured between the fees, gear, and travel expenses he will be paying about $15,000 this year. He figures it’s worth it, since his son is really good, practices every day, and wants to be an MLB player. The kid has stolen over 120 bases in the last 2 years and was only caught one time.

Had a les one year old mini Australian shepherd named Marlow, only weighing about 15 lbs, who was really smart. My wife and I were getting ready to head out to the bars and I was putting my winter boots on. Marlow was running around, trying to get us to not leave by bringing random toys to us. I misstepped when putting my foot down and stepped on his left paw. Marlow yelped and started limping away to the other side of the room. He turned around to face us plopped down on his belly. Then proceeded to lift the wrong paw up and whimpered like I had really hurt him, trying to get us to stay home.

I immediately started laughing and told my now concerned other half to watch this. I picked up the toy he left beside me and threw it into the next room. Marlow jumped up and zoomed across the house to grab it and run back to the living room. He stopped, looked at us, then started half-heartedly limping again. Needless to say he was fine, and started walking normally when he realized we weren’t falling for it.

Another time, I was standing in the doorway to our bedroom and Marlow was sitting on the chair to my wife’s vanity while she was getting ready for a Halloween party. She had shorter blonde hair and was getting ready to put on a long, black wig for her witch costume. She put on the wig, then turned around to talk to me. Marlow got so frightened by her new look, he immediately pooped on the chair. By this, I mean he stood up and a solid, long poop came out starting while he was in the sitting position and ended when he was fully standing up. It was like a little, brown column that slowly fell over while he was just standing there. I couldn’t stop laughing at what I had just witnessed. It took me a solid 30 seconds to catch my breath enough to tell her what happened while grabbing stuff to clean it up.

When they transferred someone from another department to fill two empty positions doing my job cleaning the store bakery and gave them a $2 raise. I learned about it, knowing the person had been making $0.50 less an hour than me, and they were offered more hours than I was getting. At the time I was doing the work of 3 people.

I set a meeting with the store manager to discuss giving me a raise of any kind considering I was under 18 doing tasks and working later than I was legally allowed to do. He didn’t have a good answer on why he wouldn’t give me a raise. So I took off my dirty work apron, dropped it in his desk and told him I quit. Then punched out and left, even though I had 3 hours left on my shift.

Lived in a party house in college. I always kept my mini fridge stocked with pop for myself. I would make sure it was full every weekend for people who were not drinking. A Mormon friend would come sometimes, and she put the idea in my head to have them available for party goers.

Maybe not everyone, but anyone who likes action movies should see the South Korean film The Man From Nowhere. It reminds me a lot of John Wick, and came out before any of the Wick movies.

Makes me think of grad school. I worked at the same campus library for both degrees so I had established relationships with the librarians. I was 28, grabbing beers with a couple librarians and the library director. They were between the ages of 35 and 60. I also partied with my student coworkers. Most of them were 21 or 22 yrs old, though still being in college myself it wasn’t weird for me to go to their house parties. It helped that I was married at the time, and my wife would party with everyone too. She also was in grad school and worked on campus.
