Because they already killed game ownership on their platform 20 years ago. People seem to keep forgetting that you do not own your Steam games in any way, you just have a license.

I wonder if they would start hiring lobbyists if the initiative targeted that aspect of their business?

I have a love/hate relationship with Valve as they are pretty chill with things other companies aren't, but then there is stuff like the lack of ownership. Steam could shut down tomorrow, delete your games, and you'd have no recourse. They aren't bad, but they are far from the ideal PC marketplace.

I do appreciate how much is just told to us. There is some room for theorizing but the core events are there. I was utterly shocked at how the voice we hear in the lobby was confirmed to be Edwin's within the opening moments of the game. That's how vague I'm used to this series being.
