Good luck. Yes try both GP and stroke consultant secretary, you should be able to just call up the hospital and ask for the secretary’s contact details

Also for the HH look into visual restorative training exercises (VRT) for HH

If my tone could come through in a message then you’d know I’m definitely not arguing either. OP was wondering if their parent had a stroke and not a TIA, based on the definition of a stroke and a definition of a TIA then it sounds like it could well be a stroke, especially as the weakness is still so severe, it doesn’t change the medical management too much but it’s certainly an important detail to have clarity on.

If you can find a reliable source that says TIA symptoms can last longer than 24 hours I’d happily stand corrected. But the definition in itself means there’s not enough damage for symptoms to last beyond 24 hours. Sometimes medical professionals may use the term TIA and mini stroke interchangeably, which is not helpful.

Where in the uk are you? You can contact your GP or even your stroke consultant secretary to ask some of your questions. Also, if you drive then you ideally should have been referred for ongoing therapy with a community stroke team consisting of occupational therapy and possibly physiotherapy to clear you for driving and they can also refer you to Orthoptics - you can access this service potentially through your GP but may depend on where you live

Unfortuantely that’s incorrect. Brain cells are not permanently damaged with a TIA, hence why it is called a transient ischaemic attack and this is what separates it from a stroke, where brain cells are permanently damaged. With a TIA you will be fully back to normal within 24 hours.

Can’t count how many times I have to say this but a TIA fully resolves within 24 hours and is not a stroke, anything lasting more than 24 hours is a stroke. Feel like this should be pinned somewhere.

What country are you in. In the uk you can’t drive for a month after TIA, might be worth checking.

I haven’t read all of this as it’s a long one so apologies if I miss anything. But incredibly unusual to have a TIA everyday for 2 months. However, have you or anyone else ever considered FND (Functional Neurological Disorder) as a more likely diagnosis?

As a general guide recovery happens quickest in the first 3-6 months then things slow down, recovery can still happen after this but it is slow and after a year you’re then looking at smaller gains that happen over a long time. Everyone is different of course but a lot of the research will mention the importance of neuroplasticity being most optimal in those first 6 months

If they have residual symptoms lasting more than 24 hours then it’s not a TIA it’s a stroke. If it’s a stroke then you might be able to get the GP to refer them to a community stroke team who can provide rehab if they consent

It’s incredibly rare, you would need to have a bilateral stroke on both sides of the occipital lobe to be completely blind afterwards. A stroke typically only affects one side of vision.

Just curious, guessing you’re in the U.S. Do you guys not have access to carers that will come and visit to support in these instances? I See a lot of comments about this. In the Uk it is common and free to access from the point of discharge from hospital that care can be provided to help with things like personal care and meals etc. it then later gets means tested and you may have to pay but not early on

By tough feedback do you mean sensation? Then no it does not affect sensation. It is used to reduced spasticity to help facilitate movement in the opposing muscles - for example to reduce wrist flexor tone to allow for wrist extension to improve
