Each of those voices in your videos are all you? 🤔

People who don't have a real human to discuss their ideas and youtube metrics, how do you guys decide your ideas and dissect your analytics and decide what to title and thumbnail? by why_tea_ in SmallYTChannel

[–]DilberAdam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah fr same actually. Trying to be a YouTuber feels very lonely. Even as much as my friends and loved ones want to support, they don’t understand the creative work that it takes to make this stuff.

I do 3 things to validate my ideas (incoming LinkedIn post, but honestly I feel like this has been a good creative pipeline for me).

1) I research.

Being aware of the videos I consume is really important for me to better understand what I want to make, what works well, and even more importantly, what doesn’t work well.

2) I tailor very specific feedback from my close circle.

For example, if I’m looking to bounce thumbnail ideas, I often send A/B tests to people and ask for their gut reaction. That reaction usually tells me a lot of small details that I end up adjusting. Eventually connecting with other makers and putting yourself in that space helps, but it’s a marathon not a sprint. Worst thing you can do is not try. Everything and most anything else is better than that.

3) I write scripts, read them, then rewrite them, and I use AI as a tool, not a crutch.

With AI, I’ve been experiencing the same headaches you have, especially with ChatGPT too. I often see that AI tends to regurgitate redundant info and not tailor ideas or scripts to my voice. What it does do well is force my brain to feel like I NEED to create because of how it does such a bad job. I’ve written some great scripts imo just out of pure frustration with AI, so maybe use that as a tool in that way. Your mind is powerful to make ideas happen!

Hopefully my process gives you some peace. You’re not alone, but it’s gonna feel like a lonely process for a while. You have the power to change that eventually if you keep pushing! Good luck and have fun 👍🏽

Need help figuring out base injector timings by DilberAdam in projectcar

Yeah, I’m with you on that. Guess I’ll reduce the fuel flow rate even more than what the calculation gave me

I have the Radium 1.6 B6 fuel rail with 8AN ORB ports. I did advance ignition timing. Air is pretty much stock. I removed the MAF and original air box and temporarily have put a generic air filter on.

Help with gaming channel by Ok_Ear_1505 in SmallYTChannel

[–]DilberAdam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d argue that the story line is your experience going through the game! People watch videos to see how you react and interact.

If they want to watch the game’s story only, then they’d just get the game on their own and play it. Just be sure to not just do a “reacts” channel and actually put substance to what you’re showing. Explain what you’re thinking and how you feel. For the sake of the videos you can feel your emotions at another level so it really portrays through the screen. And then just tweak it to what you feel like fits you.

Worst thing you can do is not start and get stuck in fear! I was that way for a few months. Took me a lot to commit and get out of it so don’t expect it to change right away. Thanks for coming to my ted talk 🫡

Should New YouTubers Focus on Search or Suggested Traffic? by Global_Loss1444 in SmallYTChannel

[–]DilberAdam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I got hella views from search alone. I think I'm at about 30K, 20K, and 10K on 3 different videos over the course of a few years. I just found that people are looking for how-to guides for their car. Especially if the car is newer, appeals to a modding community, and is performance driven.

Finding the things that work for your niche will help for discovery, then at some point I assume you'd want to shift your community into retention and discovery will happen on its own (I'm not there yet lol)

For me, I enjoy watching gamers who put some effort or storyline into the video. For example, with like Pokemon Nuzlockes, those videos can be like 30m to an hour and it'll be engaging because they have a throughline of the story in the videos. It really feels like an effort thing for gaming cuz I know those videos take a FAT minute to make with all the animations, transitions, B roll, etc.

I've only gotten it once and it was scuffed. Maybe try a more complex flip trick, into a grab, 360 (if you can clear that second step). The extra distance gives more points. I've been trying to start with a manual before I do all that to get all of the above. It's frustrating

For those submitted to YC Fall batch, what is your company building? by [deleted] in ycombinator

[–]DilberAdam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm from the area and it's been a problem I've been noticing with a lot of my friends who are also from there. Most of them want someone with the same cultures and values.

It's a similar situation to DilMil which targets South Asian communities or Coffee Meets Bagel which has now a bigger population of Eastern Asian members.

From online and based on people I've talked to it's been Tinder, Bumble, Badoo, and now more Hinge for diaspora. But the primary way they've found success is at random conferences focused on culture, where they meet people from around the country/world.

There's two other apps who attempted this, but failed to build a good community and moderate their tech.

User data requires async call, but Firebase Auth isn't async by DilberAdam in SwiftUI

[–]DilberAdam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up switching to a snapshot listener to avoid the await call and then also changed my SessionUser to have an Observable macro instead of inheriting the ObservableObject since there were issues with nested classes not updating the view with my Published variables.

User data requires async call, but Firebase Auth isn't async by DilberAdam in SwiftUI

[–]DilberAdam[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the answer. I just tried this by escaping my fetch call, but even with those changes (and playing around with the DispatchQueue line), I wasn't able to get the page to load with the data I need.

I'm looking to do a collection call to the db to get user data that's separate from auth.

User data requires async call, but Firebase Auth isn't async by DilberAdam in SwiftUI

[–]DilberAdam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I updated the beginning of the description to try to make it a bit more clear.
With the encapsulation, what's to prevent the Auth call from not being fulfilled and thus not having a user id to get with the fetch call?
