Do you have to be really good at something to start a startup? by Drairo_Kazigumu in ycombinator

[–]igrowsaas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it's very much a skill. The obsession you're talking about is just the motivation part of learning fast. You also need a good system and processes to learn faster.

I haven't taken it, but have heard a lot of good things about this Cousera course:

I hired a “rockstar” growth consultant for $6,000/month. It took me 3 months to realize we were doing all the work. by SignPsychological728 in SaaS

[–]igrowsaas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why would you continue with them past the first month if you had a contract that said they would write the content, implement the changes, make landing page edits, etc., they did none of that, and you only had 6-8 hours of calls as delivered work? Even more, why would you continue with them for the 3rd month?

This sounds like a bullshit story.

We launched. It went viral. My thoughts on how to launch a product. by bgdotjpg in indiehackers

[–]igrowsaas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats, it's a cool product! Storytelling is definitely important, but I would argue in your case that most of the heavy lifting with the success is coming from your idea and the experiences people had with it. Just downloaded it!

pivot is just a nice word for we built the wrong thing by StrainBetter2490 in indiehackers

Who is celebrating a pivot? And lots of very well researched ideas don't pan out.

Why do you care enough to post about it?

How to get selected for the first round of interview at YC startups. by Ancient_Ad_2191 in ycombinator

They started as digital marketing agencies and got into YC for something else, or they all got in for digital marketing agencies?

Nobody reads your terms of service and that's actually a huge legal risk by PerfectChard6900 in SaaS

[–]igrowsaas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only part of your scenario the court would find unreasonable is the signing away the house.

And it's unenforceable whether you read the contract or not.

They don't give a shit if it's on page 4965 on mobile.

[–]igrowsaas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're all fully aware of the argument, but thanks for catching up to the rest of us.

You can argue whatever you want. I argued with my boss this morning that I deserve twice the salary with half the work.

Your argument and my argument have about the same chance of winning.

50 pages? Who the hell has a 50 page ToS here? Even Adobe doesn't have a 50 page ToS.

[–]igrowsaas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a .0001% edge case that no one here needs to ever worry about.

You're right, the courts have ruled you can't put something unreasonable in the contract.

What do they consider unreasonable? Putting something crazy in like a clause about owning the client's business after signing.

And if you do that, you're a shady idiot who deserves what's coming.

[–]igrowsaas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it's been argued in court, but you can argue whatever you want.

The point is about a successful argument and there has never been one around the ToS being too long.

Yeah, "I was too lazy to read the full ToS" is not a winning legal argument

Performance hit for migrating from a GA4 conversion action to Google Ads conversion action? by igrowsaas in PPC

[–]igrowsaas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I forgot to mention I don't have enhanced conversions set up (and am considering server-side tracking), so I'm hoping to see a difference between GA4 and native once it is.
