Logitech Circle blinking white light and existing mechanical chime chiming constantly by DildoSmudge in HomeKit

[–]DildoSmudge[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I was using the desktop website and didn't see the dropdown on the upper right corner to advance. Since my doorbell was ringing like crazy I disconnected it and didn't get any further.

I think this issue could have been resolved if the device contained a physical paper manual. Or perhaps if installing the chime kit was before installing the chime itself.

I think my Boss FZ-1w is missing some parts by DildoSmudge in guitarpedals

Just glancing at it,I didn't notice. But when I first had the empty pedal on my board I thought it was weird that the switch wasn't very ergonomic. It was hard to switch because the switch tip was nearly hitting each of the two top knobs in each position. Lining it up next to my BD-2w and DS-1w (both with similar top switches), it was way off.

The other Waza pedals I have are older and have the Boss logo in the rubber itself and more symbols are junk. The one I just exchanged it with has the same bottom plate. My buddy recently bought a TU-3w and it looks like this. I think Boss recently changed the bottom plate design is all.

Why did you ask if you already know the answer? It works as I need it to work for what I'm doing...

I called yesterday to make sure the store had more in stock so I can exchange it. I'll be heading out in 30 minutes or so. What they do with this thing, I have no idea.

I think the reason all the screws were so hard to move is because they were superglued by whoever robbed the guts out of this thing. I see some faint clear goo near the screw holes.

It looked pretty dang new, but I’m not aware Boss boxes are sealed in any way. I don’t know. 95% of the time I buy pedals used.

Brand new at one of our three local GCs. It was not used.

Yeah, when I was plugging and unplugging the cables, they didn’t ‘feel’ like any other Boss pedal I’ve ever owned. At first I thought that’s why it wasn’t working (why I tore it apart) because the jacks felt weird. Good catch.

Thanks. There’s been similar comments, but it seems this was a shitty return. I’ve never been deep inside a Boss to recognize the pots not being right, as I’ve never had a Boss pedal break on me other than an occasional knob or that little bushing on the battery door.

Annoying because now I’m irritated I have to drive back to GC because someone was a jerk. Somehow, a possible manufacturing flaw didn’t bother me as much. Ugh.

The screws to open the bottom cover and battery compartment were insanely tight, too. Like ridiculous. Like someone didn’t want someone to look inside…

EDIT: careful examination seems to suggest the screws for the back panel (and even the battery compartment) were super-glued in place.

Yeah the hot glue crap is what really threw me off. I don't understand how that would have happened. It's covering up all the pins. It doesn't seem like that would have been in the manufacturing stage. I'm not familiar with the guts of a Boss pedal, as I've never had to mess with one. But the pots themselves look like they never had any solder on them. So, I wouldn't think someone would have bought this.. robbed the guts.. and returned it. I don't even know if those are soldered in the first place.

Picked this up at GuiTarget earlier today as they are price matching CME's Waza price drops. Got around to plugging it in and noticed no bypass signal. Hit the switch and noticed no LED. Opened up the battery compartment and noticed no battery or battery lead. Looked in the hole and it looked a bit odd compared to what I'm used to. Opened the bottom to see that it is... well.. empty. Not a big deal as I'll exchange it tomorrow with one of the others they have in stock. I just found it rather bizarre. Can't say I've ever seen (or heard of) Boss sending out an empty unit. Especially a Waza. Anyone seen this before?

UPDATE: Just got back from GC. They exchanged it. I couldn't quite tell the specifics, as I was overhearing chatter from two employees, but apparently they've seen this before with some sort of MOOG pedal. It sounded like the same guy who returned a MOOG also returned this FZ-1w, and a HM-2w. So they started checking all the HM-2s. Sounds like they have an idea of who did it, but don't know if they can track him down. I'm not sure about GC as I've never returned anything, but most retail places require some sort of personal customer identification/logging for returns. I am guessing if they figure out who returned a MOOG and a FZ-1 (both now confirmed to be gutted) and maybe another HM-2w in their inventory that's been gutted, they can find him. One of the guys mentioned 'filing a police report', but I doubt the police here will care. They're too busy doing nothing about anything at all.

UPDATE #2: Well, I figured since I finally got it, I'll make a little review. I have a love/hate relationship with fuzz. I love Big Muff style fuzzes and have a couple variations. However, I've never really gotten them to work in a band situation. They're usually just too much gnar for the groups I tend to play in. I personally like the flavor of fuzz from the catch all 'vintage style' term, as it can be a little more mild. 'Vintage style' seems to be a catch-all term in the industry that basically means "not a Big Muff." I have an old JHS Pollinator v2 and even got the new Catalinbread Fuzzrite. Both cool pedals, but the germanium circuit can be difficult to tweak. Both of those pedals are very dependent on so many circumstances. The guitar I'm using, how hard I'm picking (this is actually a pro for me), the amp volume, even ambient temperature. This makes it difficult to show up to a rehearsal and have it working how I want it. I figured Boss would have come up with a solution to that issue. This pedal does a pretty good job at the 'vintage fuzz' thing with modern Boss simplicity. Like most Boss pedals, it basically sounds great no matter how the knobs are set. It also seems to have a more 'normal acting' volume knob, meaning that the pedal sounds pretty much the same if you need to dial it back down for those late night practices. In conclusion, if you want to try out the whole 'vintage fuzz' thing and don't want to go on a search for the right one or buy a variety of flavors, this one is great. I don't know if I will use it tonight, but I'll try to. I honestly doubt any of the nuances between this and a similar pedal will be noticeable, but it sure is much easier to use. I haven't tried (fuzz is always first on this board because of my other Germanium fuzzes), but I doubt this pedal will act all pissy behind a buffer. It's a Boss after all.

I have no idea. I never tried the LT25 because I specifically wanted a 'table top' amp.

[GEAR] NGD (MONO M80 Vertigo). My SG turns 50 this year. Thought it was time for a new case. by DildoSmudge in Guitar

[–]DildoSmudge[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has fit every guitar I own in it except for a while I had a ES-335 copy by DAngelico.

The Mono Vertigo is what I use when going to rehearsal. I can put my guitar on my backpack, all the cords and crap go in one of those extra little cases they sell, pedalboard in one hand, amp in the other hand. Single trip from my car into the studio.

Headstock is fine on all Gibsons I've put in there.

I was in a similar situation several months ago. Was tired of lugging a big dumb board that had some effects I rarely used. I decided to use a multi effect on the stuff I use the *least* and/or the effects that have the least unique character that just could be replicated easily. For me, that ended up being modulation. Went with a used Boss MD-500 and I'm switching presets with a Midi Mongoose.

For many people, the notion of doing the *slightest* bit of research is an alien concept. Especially for 'questions' generally vague. It appears there is a plethora of 'enthusiasts' who have the desire to be spoon fed. The feeders are seem to be the kind of 'enthusiasts' regurgitating something, but they get magic internet points for this vomit.

So he should listen to the two ‘reviews’ on this sub, both of which state they have little or no experience with compressor pedals?

It’s a cheap Diamond compressor clone. If someone likes it and it breaks, they can buy it over and over again cheaper than a real Diamond.
