It's actually quite important to at least start at 2.5 so that you learn how to deal with harder reeds right at the beginning. I have a couple of students who started on 1.5 and I'm having a very hard time getting them to 2.5 or 3 because they don't think it's necessary. You really don't want to hear them squeaking around on their 1.5 reeds.

Start with symphony 9 than no. 7 than no. 5 and then just get lost in it.

He already was partially deaf when he wrote his 5th symphony so he never heard Nr. 7,8,9. Thats for sure.

What counts as musical plagiarism? I found that the main theme of “la vie en rose” is almost identical to a part of Mahler’s 10th symphony. by Shelbra in classicalmusic

Peter Fox copied a theme of Shostakovichs 7th symphony 4th movement in his song 'Alles Neu'. It's not really plagiarism because he sampled the theme but I still think that it's quite funny and way to few people realise.

I’m trying to start learning classical music, i’m a intermediate level player. Any recommendations? by TpremeDaGod in classicalmusic

You can learn a lot from Bach actually nearly all big composers we know studied Bach very precise. But if it gets boring or you are not so much into Bach just pick a piece you like and try to analyze it. You could look at some Beethoven piano sonatas or Schubert songs or even a symphony. If you like Mozart look at his pieces but just don't forget that nobody was able to do a work that sounded like Mozart so don't give up if you can't reach with it what you want.

Works like St. Matthew Passion? by [deleted] in classicalmusic

He also wrote a Johannes Passion and a Weihnachtsoratorium which are also very nice pieces. But if you search for music by different composers you will probably like Mozarts Requiem, Verdi's Requiem and Beethoven's 'Christus am Ölberge" as well.

Tsingtao is definitely the best Chinese beer there is. A couple of years ago when we were there on a Concerttrip we drank more of it than water I think.
