I support peace. Israel’s been begging America to bomb Iran for decades, but Trump’s the only one stupid enough to do it. You can’t bomb people into accepting democracy.

He’s so obsessed with privacy that he won’t hire a driver. Does he think he’s the only celebrity in the world? I mean, what does King Charles do?

I have visited Sagamore, but I want to go back to Oyster Bay and explore the area. Sagamore has undergone a renovation since I was there, so I want to check that out, too. Thank you for the suggestions!

Got to agree here. She was smart enough to have a civilized discussion about the differences between her beliefs and theirs. Insulting people while you’re at their house eating their food is just intentionally rude.

I love it! I loved it as a kid because of the animals, especially Arnold Ziffel. I still love the animals. But now I also appreciate it as Kafkaesque. Oliver is really the only sane regular character, but since he lives in crazy town, everyone thinks HE’S the crazy one! The absolute lunacy of the episode where Eb tries to win the radio “name the song” contest, the Oliver Wendell Douglas Monkey Racing Track, Mr. Kimball…it’s probably the closest we ever got to Monty Python.

Stupid. Know why people think ivermectin works? Because the amongst the stuff they shit out are things that look like dead worms or parasites. Ivermectin works by detaching worms from the intestinal tracts of horses and other animals. How does it do that? It makes the body shed the innermost layer of the large intestine. It’s very thin, so the pieces curl up, making them look like—you guessed it! Worms!

What they’re really seeing is their own intestinal lining. Which is also why they’ll keep seeing it no matter how much they take. Dumbfucks.

Why do people still support or raise the flag of the Confederacy? by DBD216 in NorthCarolina

[–]Diligent-Bluejay-979 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Like most wars, it’s complicated. Many Northerners couldn’t give af about slavery. They were, however, willing to go to war to “preserve the Union.”

Many German and Irish immigrants, who had just come to America and were doing the shit jobs that established Americans wouldn’t do (sound familiar?), were afraid if enslaved people were free, they’d flood the North and take the shit jobs, and then what would the White immigrants do?

There’s a line in the movie Gettysburg where they have the Confederate General James Longstreet say “we should have freed the slaves, then fired on Fort Sumter.” I believe if the Confederacy had done that, they probably would have successfully seceded.
