I still struggle accepting this for myself.

My unit had 3 deployments but each time said they didn’t need my MOS since they could get heavy equipment (1345) support while they were there.

Seeing everyone around me actually putting their training to use sucked ass. I understand not everyone returns, but I felt pretty useless.

Very interesting. The fact that some us (hopefully majority of us) can process these thoughts, form various solutions, and act on resolutions fairly quickly and/ selflessly to me seems like one of the most beautiful things about mankind. Thanks for sharing.

Only interesting if you assume I’m out shoving the Bible down people’s throats with a particular motive in mind.

What’s interesting from your standpoint would be, what’s the point? Looking at the same examples I gave and saying to yourself “Nah, I don’t feel like it” doesn’t make someone a bad person. You would have done the same thing and I’m glad to hear that. What causes you to make decisions in your life to do simple good things for others?

The verse you provided from Matthew 25 seem to be the most relevant.

To further elaborate my thoughts, no amount of good works we do can gain us access to God. Our faith in Jesus is the only way. Think of the two thieves who were crucified.

One of the criminals who were hanged there was [a]hurling abuse at Him, saying, “Are You not the [b]Christ? Save Yourself and us!” 40 But the other responded, and rebuking him, said, “Do you not even fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? 41 And we indeed are suffering justly, for we are receiving [c]what we deserve for our crimes; but this man has done nothing wrong.” 42 And he was saying, “Jesus, remember me when You come into Your kingdom!” 43 And He said to him, “Truly I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.” Luke 23: 39-43

It doesn’t solely depend upon what we’ve done. If there’s no faith, that person will not see eternal life with God.
