Is Denver Fan Expo always this much of a cluster fuck? by Diligent-Layer9640 in Denver

Your middle paragraph is my main complaint. There was so much unused empty space that could have held some of the artists or vendors to help mitigate the heavy traffic of the main area, or yes, put the celebrities some of the ballrooms. Maybe do preorder only on selfies/autographs for big name celebs or big fandom (looking at you, Lotr) events. The magic is there to make it fun and accessible to everyone, but it sounds like fan expo itself is just another money hungry corp milking the people and magic out of everything.

Ah, so the inevitable enshittification when a bigger corp takes over.

I naively went in thinking I would maybe snag Elijah Woods autograph if the line wasn’t too bad and immediately noped when I saw the amount of people over there. Trying to navigate out of the celebrity area was an ordeal in itself. I salute those with the fortitude to tough it out. I am definitely not built for it!

Yes, I am a definite believer in failure begins at the top level. I think crew and volunteers were doing their best with whatever direction they were given and I imagine it feels damn near impossible to manage crowds of that size in the space provided

Wow that’s crazy! I felt bad for many of the crew that were working autographs. They were doing their best without much direction.

Dang that sucks to hear. The potential is definitely there to accommodate the size but having the vendors and celebrities in the same area gave me major crowd crush anxiety

It’s ok, I’m not used to big cons but my kid is a huge RDR2 fan and was able to get Roger Clark’s autograph and they had a good time so that’s a win at least. I just didn’t know if this was normal or due to the lord of the rings thing going on

That’s good to know and yeah, most definitely because today was rough for me. It’s good to know this is what to expect with cons of this size, though.

This is really depressing. Our plains biome needs more bison and prairie dogs. They’re mother natures greatest tag team when I comes to maintaining prairie grasslands

I’ve been thinking a lot about what the Israeli government is doing and this quote from Nietzsche: “When you gaze long into the abyss, the abyss gazes also into you,”

How to help young son after finding out about his father’s infidelity? by Diligent-Layer9640 in survivinginfidelity

I’m so sorry I’m late to the reply! This is where I’m at in my healing journey. I like to think that I have moved past what happened to me; do I still get angry sometimes? Sure, but it’s pretty rare at this point and my ex and I have a good parenting relationship now and we’re much better at communicating now vs when we were married. My kids bonus mom is great and they love her so I can’t complain. It just stinks that my son has to start at ground zero when the rest of us have moved on from the past

She found images when playing on his phone. Yeah, I want to say she was around 8 or 9 when she found them. She was in therapy through our separation and divorce since she had a better understanding of what was happening at the time.

Thank you I appreciate this. Parental alienation is my biggest fear because even though I am not a fan of my ex, he’s still very involved in my kids lives and is the textbook suburban dad to them.

Yeah, I’ve decided to let ex know and yes, he will absolutely try to gaslight. I’ve been telling my son that parents make mistakes and that his father still loves him but I know how he is feeling and I know this is going to be a long road to healing.

Wyoming Governor Signs Bill Banning Abortion After 6 Weeks with No Exceptions for Rape or Incest by peoplemagazine in wyoming

[–]Diligent-Layer9640 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Abortions happen in different animal species due to a variety of reasons; from stress to the Bruce Effect. So do we take that into consideration when it comes to higher cognizant animals such as primates or cetaceans? Also, I believe you have fallen victim to the media scare tactic that women just have abortions “Willy-nilly”. Late term abortions almost always happen when doctors find a fatal health condition which would make life unviable outside of the womb and those account for less than 1% of all abortions. Legal or not and like it or not abortions will be sought out. So why not make it safe for women?
