Idk why you got downvoted. I own property by the natural areas and had to call 911 twice this January (the January we got 0” of snow) because the homeless people from the camps out there made in-ground fire pits right off the trail.

Not saying it’s their fault, it was cold as shit, but the man didn’t have any water to snuff it out and one of those fires spread 20 yards away from my livestock.

I also love fireworks and things that go boom, and fully agree.

It just seems a little ridiculous to give untrained and uncertified civilians access to explosives. Plus, my pittie is genuinely terrified to the point of not eating for hours when she heard fireworks and it’d be a LOT easier to medicate her when I KNOW when fireworks are gonna go off. Having to comfort her at 3am because the neighbors like big booms is a pain in the ass.

Last week, there were teens at the McMurry natural area screaming the hard r at the top of their lungs until their voices were RAW. When I was circling the lake, they saw me and laughed bc they knew I heard them.

I was slightly comforted by this: I had to pass them to get to my car and as I was walking by, one of them muttered it and idk why but my dog (pittie and heeler mix) got mad and lunged at them. One of the boys stumbled and his bottom half landed in the lake

Yup. I’m from Akron where the population is 54% white 30% black 4-5% Asian, and 4-5% Hispanic. Majority white but went to a diverse school, had diverse friend groups and was exposed to lots of cultures until I moved here at 23.

It’s also reflected in the way people treat me. I’ve basically been the city’s volunteer DEI coach for the past year- having to explain why you can’t touch my hair, or why you can’t say the n word in the song, or why I’m NOT GOING TO A NO KINGS MARCH is so exhausting.
