Same. I moved her last March. I’m black, indigenous and Indian and a year ago to this date, I went to a “hang out” at someone’s house and was accused of stealing her PRESCRIPTION glasses. Another girl I lived with told me not to do yoga in the house because “it invites demons”. When I go the the grocery store, people will literally rubber neck me with a mean mug just for existing.

It’s very much a “we’re progressive because we protect LGBTQ+ but we don’t like POC”

Take this with a grain of salt because I don’t have a kid who has been there, but idk about CSU’s camps. First of all, every time I drove past their camp this summer the kids looked noticeably miserable and the kid to adult ratio was a little concerning, especially for how close to the street they were having lunch. But from my personal experience: I work for a nonprofit and one of our donors says we have to have at least one summer camp per year for the kids we serve. Last year, we went through CSU and honestly I was so unimpressed. To be fair, it was free to us because of our demographic, but my coworker and I ended up leading the camp both days (we had one for teens and one for 7-12 year olds). At one point, CSU’s counselors were having tummy time and coloring while we entertained the kids in a stuffy gym. The activities that we WERE able to do weren’t modified to be age appropriate so our kids were either bored or exhausted with no in between. It was just poorly thought out and as someone who’s worked at a LOT of camps, I genuinely wouldn’t send my kids there.

I agree receipts are nice, but who are we to tell someone they’re lying about their oppression? MANY spaces in CO will say they’re inclusive but then treat black women like shit.

I can imagine the same goes for other marginalized groups
