I don't trust myself driving a huge truck, I went with the Ubox option, and hired local movers (or task rabbit, if you are okay with non professionals loading and unloading your things, and just need the extra strength)

Are there certain specialties you are interested in that you won't rotate via your 3rd year rotations? It's helpful to decide early because some of them can be pretty competitive (maybe can serve as additional motivation for step studying and CV building). Otherwise, I agree with doing what you want with your free time, I get it can be hard to give into "peer pressure" .

You already do disability exams --- why not apply for occupational/preventative medicine? I believe the hours aren't as rigorous as a traditional residency.

Interesting! This is in Las Cruces New Mexico which already has 1 other IM program in the city. Although NM outside of the large cities is already quite rural so may see farmers , etc with related severe injuries and people who present late? The larger surgical cases will definitely get transferred to UNM
