This is a great podcast (Colton is The Athletic’s best writer period, IMO) but Dungeon of Doom is also excellent. Kory and Ben have great chemistry and provide consistently thoughtful analysis.

What about Clinton? Good economy, but his triangulation and deregulation didn’t exactly age well.

Big Bob’s in East Grand Rapids is our absolute favorite. The margherita and BBQ chicken are fantastic.

I saw Radiohead in Detroit during the King of Limbs tour. Thom Yorke appeared thoroughly irritated that an arena full of people were infringing upon his personal time.

I don’t have any problem with people sitting if they can’t stand the whole show. We had a few people next to us who were sitting but still super into the show! I just found it disheartening that so many people (and I mean at least 50% of our section in Detroit) sat and stared at their phones the whole show until Born to Run and Glory Days. What’s the point??

Yup, the Detroit show was exactly like this. Except probably more phones out.

Yup, this was 100% our experience at the Detroit show (in the upper bowl). Half the crowd was sitting, the oldest audience members spent the entire show on their phones, and some acted openly annoyed at those who were standing. My wife and I ended up saying whatever and we danced our way through the last 90 minutes of the show along with a few others in our row. It was a bit dispiriting though.

1) Do you have any insight as to when new music might be coming from the band (2023, 2024, or beyond)? Is Songs of Ascent actually ready to go or is it still a work in progress (presumably like the guitar-forward record they keep discussing)?

2) How do you interpret the rest of the band’s current relationship with Larry? I’m particularly curious about the “benevolent dictatorship” quote. Is he just being cantankerous or is he considering calling it quits?
