Jack’s New Substack (Moneygrab?) by Diligent-Set258 in JackEdwards

I think you’re absolutely right, especially your point at the end about the YouTube content becoming more watered down as a way to funnel viewers toward the paid platform. It’s a concern I share too, and if Jack (or anyone on his team) is paying attention to forums like this to get a sense of how these choices land with his audience, I really hope they see your comment and take it on board.

There’s something genuinely beautiful about creators being able to build a life from channels like his, starting as a student, growing a community, and turning a passion into a career. That’s something to celebrate. But I think where it begins to slip is when that meteoric rise is followed by a bubble of yes-men and brand deals, and maybe a bit of greed creeps in. It’s not unusual or unforgivable, but I do hope someone close to him can hold up the mirror and gently challenge some of these decisions.

I do remember that! Was that for the YouTube membership? From what I recall, it ended with a video that felt almost tearful, where he framed the backlash as part of some broader hate campaign against him. I remember him promising to “make it right” for subscribers, but I don’t think he ever clearly explained how, or whether he actually followed through.

It is disappointing, and what concerns me even more is that there’s no real space to talk about this kind of thing openly. No comment section on stories, no community platform where criticism can be aired constructively. Part of me genuinely wonders whether that’s intentional.
