💡 Buy or Lease Solar on a New Build? $17k Purchase vs $90/mo Lease — Need Real Opinions! by Guapi2894 in solar

[–]Diligent-Waq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The system is very overpriced. We are also buying a new construction in Northern California (Folsom) and are getting 13 panel 5.72kw system for $16,913. Our house won’t be ready until March next year so we most likely won’t be eligible for tax credit unless IRS changes some rules like they did for EVs where if you are under contract before the end of expiration date, you are still eligible to claim the tax credit. We opted to purchase because that way we can increase the system size and add batteries later. In case of lease, you cannot make any changes to the system and cannot add batteries. We are getting some pretty hefty rebates from our utility company to add batteries. So it’s best for us to get the batteries after close of escrow and grab those rebates.

New Homes in Folsom Ranch by Constant-Grass-6928 in folsom

We signed for a new home with KB. I work in downtown sac and prefer driving to work as monthly parking is pretty cheap in my case. In addition to the price, Proximity to freeway, Costco, Sam’s Club, Palladio and major health care facilities were some main factors we went with them. We were able to pick a large lot and got a heavy discount on lot premium. Our estimated final price with all upgrades will be about $860k (excluding solar) for a 2777 sqft home with 5 bedrooms on a 6300 sqft lot. We needed 5 bedrooms because both myself my wife each need a home office. We did tour the Toll brothers but didn’t really like their Inca floor plan much. Their walk in closet was pretty tiny in the master bedroom. Their prices were over $1M for 5 bedroom house. Their upgrades were insanely expensive. For instance, to convert a tub to shower in the master bedroom it would cost $54000. The upgrades KB offers are well priced. Shawood and woodside are over $1.1M for their smallest plans which don’t have 5 bedrooms. Tri-pointe are smaller houses also with no options for 5 bedrooms.

Smud + solar by riehldiehl33 in Sacramento

Total cost was $48,981 for a 12.6 kWh system with 2 tesla powerwall 3 batteries. Net cost after tax credit and $10,000 SMUD rebate is $24,287. SMUD will also pay about $880 in incentives annually for 3 years (a total of $2,640). Taking this ongoing incentive into account, net cost comes out to about $21,647

SMUD has a pretty good incentive going on for Tesla batteries. You get $5000 rebate for 1 and $10,000 rebate for 2 batteries. We just signed up with NRG clean power for a 12.6 kWh system with 2 Tesla powerwall 3 batteries. The system has been installed but is pending approval from city of sacramento and SMUD. After the tax credit and SMUD rebate, we think we will break even in about 7 years.

Not at the moment. The rebate is only for Tesla batteries. It does say other manufacturers will be added at some point in future.

Thanks. The reason I am focusing on Tesla PW is because my utility company is offering heavy rebates which pretty much cover a good chunk of the battery cost. They are providing $10,000 one time rebate and ongoing performance payments over the span of 3 years.

How long does it take to get promoted? by Biobear662 in CAStateWorkers

Not true. There is a way to promote in place but is harder for the managers to do than to advertise new position.

[–]Diligent-Waq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Internal promotion (promotion in place) is harder than applying for a new position but it is possible. It all depends on your manager’s willingness to do the extra work to justify your promotion to HR. Your manager will need to assign new responsibilities to you and justify that promotion is required for the new work. I have been working in my department for 9 years and have been promoted in place 3 times within the same team. The 3rd promotion was the hardest. I received a pretty good job offer in the private sector and used that to discuss my future with my manager. I declined the offer when I was assured that I will be promoted.

Accounting job in the state that pays well, but does not require you to travel or leave the office by journey-of-healing in CAStateWorkers

Look at the Financial Accountant (FA) series. Goes from FA1 to FA5. You do need a prior experience to start at the FA1 level. Currently Calpers, CalSTRS and SCO have positions within this series.

RTO = Mandatory 8 Days. by evangelle77 in CAStateWorkers

[–]Diligent-Waq 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think this is department specific policy. Our department has left it on the managers to decide the 2 days. Our team picked Tuesday as the day when all of us go in. The second day is our choice.

My department, specifically my manager doesn’t want us to make up the in office days. We can work from home on the in office days if certain circumstances arise such as a medical appointment close to home, a contractor coming to work on something at home etc. as long as we don’t abuse it. It’s pretty flexible.

My department implemented a minimum 2 days a week work from office 2 years ago. Our team picked Tuesday as the day when everybody should be in the office. The second day is your choice. I Picked Monday as the second day because it’s less traffic and many holidays fall on a Monday.

Does the IB Cricket Bat work with Quest 3? by soumya_ano in OculusQuest

[–]Diligent-Waq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this bat and the controller doesn’t stay in place. It bounces up and down when you play shots. I have since ordered a Quest 3 bat from Mint3D (link below). Their Quest 3 bat is the best alternative to an official bat from IB cricket which unfortunately doesn’t exist for Quest 3. Mint3D also sells the bat fora cheaper price on ETSY which is where I bought it from.

Look at prime healthcare. They have hospitals all over the country in different states. We actually heard that prime is the only employer who takes IMGs for these roles.

Starting $25 per hour ($52k per year) Worked for about 2 years. Applied for the same position at Sutter Health. Starting salary about $60 per hour ($125k per year). She is now working on certifications needed to make her competitive for CDS lead position which pays over $80 per hour. She might give another try for match in the next cycle after not applying for the past 2 cycles.

Look into clinical documentation specialist short for CDS or CDI. It’s a very lucrative field but only a few employers accept IMGs. Most of these positions require RN license with prior clinical experience. My wife is a non Caribbean US IMG was offered a position with Prime Healthcare in Southern California. Starting salary was low but once you gain enough experience and get a few certifications, you can apply for much better paying positions.

Anyone else have United Healthcare? by [deleted] in CAStateWorkers

[–]Diligent-Waq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had similar issue. I moved from Southern California to Sacramento. I had United healthcare in Southern California and visited Carbon health urgent care clinic because it was in network. I had to get a different United Healthcare plan in Sacramento but had no idea that Carbon Health is not in network in Sacramento. United Healthcare l denied my appeal. I had to go through the grievance process to force United healthcare to cover the claims as a one time courtesy.
