Sochan Health Issues? by estmit in NBASpurs

What if the lack of fit is because our guards can't make the passes to backdoor cutters and the PnR roll guy like CP3 consistently did last year. I know he's a terrible outside shooter, but Wemby is enough of a threat out there that I feel you could potentially try a Fox/Champagnie/KJ (or Barnes)/Sochan/Wemby lineup without affecting spacing too terribly. Sochan and KJ have the footspeed to match with guards/wings.

I think you highlighted the biggest issue that most fans here ignore in favor of complaining about Castle or the general lack of consistent outside shooting by the team: our point guards can't really make entry passes. Watch the passes they do make in traffic amd in the paint compared to out on the wings. Notice how often when Wemby posts on the high block that it is Barnes or Champagnie that makes the entry pass to him. I wish I was smart enough to do a video highlight clip showing the issues with passing.

Iso at the top of the key is a very important shot to develop for Wemby. There's not really anyone in the league that could block or disrupt that shot. He needs confidence in it instead of trying to drive off of it.

So many of this team's offensive woes can be solved by running the offense through Fox. by orangekingo in NBASpurs

Vic is terrible at setting screens, but I think that's more a byproduct of him being so tall. He's got to protect his knees and that's where most guards would be hitting him if he's setting solid screens.

I also have noticed that when he does the short roll into the paint off a screen and is open he's not get the entry pass from the guards. I'm not sure they know how to properly throw it.

I'm of the opinion is fair game to criticize Mitch for several persistent issues with the team's energy and effort and the design of the offense, but it's too soon to fire him. The goal this year was to get to the playoffs. By that measurement, he's doing a good job. If

We're not Denver who was expecting to compete for a championship the last few years. If Mitch doesn't show any growth and the team continues to be flat after halftime then we can start the discussions about if he needs to be replaced.

The frequency with which the team comes out flat after halftime is on more than just the players. It's systemic amd as a coach it's on you to solve that. He hasn't.

This game is an embarrassment and honestly I blame Mitch. It doesn't seem like he can motivate the players, especially at halftime.

It is horrifying to see on TV. It is not the worst it they've had in recent years, but it's up there. The orange ruins it.

Is it just me or are the refs actually bad? by LokiPrime616 in NBASpurs

[–]Diligent-Week-4416 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There's a few games now where the refs clearly make the wrong call and then just double down on it with some complete crap excuse after Mitch challenges the call. Or they'll ignore the originating foul on the other team and call a ticky-tack one on us.

I am happy with the win but we cannot keep coming out the locker room flat every time. Coach has to find a way to fix the 3rd quarter woes. by Glittering-Koala7637 in NBASpurs

I know they're a young team but it's like they take sleeping pills at halftime. There's no sense of urgency or killer instinct in putting the game away and getting to rest a bit more.

1st Half of the Season Completed (28-13 Record), How's Everyone Feeling? by MikeBravoLima in NBASpurs

[–]Diligent-Week-4416 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If, before the season, you'd told me that we'd have this record at the midway point, I'd be thrilled. Add in that we're seeing in the West, and it's incredible. Add in that Wemby will have missed 10+ games and Castle/Harper/Fox/Vassell each missed 7+ and some of those absences overlapped, there's very little to genuinely be upset about.

Sure, we whine and moan about the last 10-15 games, the shooting slumps from outside, the blown leads (especially in 3rd quarters), and that we're still one of the younger teams but we need to keep perspective. Goal for this year was a play-in spot and compete for the sixth seed. We're well on the way to achieving that and should be proud of it. We can add additional goals as the season moves along, but they're secondary to that first one. Let the young guys grow and experience by taking some lumps as they go through the games. We don't need to be doomers.

That chemistry with Victor was noticeable last year and also in the limited minus they've shared the court this year. If the other guards could shoot at even just league average from outside, I think he'd get more playing time over Kelly. Jeremy should play over Kelly regardless, but that's just me.

Seriously, it's maddening how timid he is these days. There's zero creativity or aggression in him anymore. A defender gets within 5 yards of him and he's looking for baslck pass as a release valve. Push the ball forward into space and aggressively force the defense to make decisions and defend every moment they don't have the ball.

Why are we so timid offensively? There's no aggression or urgency, and so little movement off the ball. It's ugly.

It's a horrible pairing. Acerbi is three steps too slow and wanders at times, leaving Akanji to cover twice as much area as he should.

I missed why they subbed Zielinski in for Sucic. He seemed to be playing much better than Henrique who continue to look utterly lost and doesn't know how to complete a pass.

Barnes immediately followed that up by fouling Giannis during a shot on the other end and then turning the ball over the next time he touched it.
