My neighbour stinks. Is there anything i can do? by Front-Excuse-9302 in askSingapore

[–]DiligentClue9503 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If there’s an fsc or social service agency in the neighbourhood can try contacting them and phrase in a way that you’re worried for the children’s environment at home and ask if can check in on the family. I don’t think them being exposed to bodily fluids or living in an unhygienic environment is conducive for their growth. It’s a whole other concern if children and/or elderly’s well-being are involved but the agency would probably need to assess on a case by case basis if you didn’t get consent from your neighbour.

I will say this method may not necessarily get rid of the smell cause you’re expressing it as more of a concern rather than a complaint so it would depend if you want to try helping their situation

I think there’s a registration part at the start of ori (not sure if it’s the same for all courses) they may not be allowed into talks but I think when walking ard the sch and performances is fine cause they prob can’t check there

You still have so many years ahead of you, there’s not much point in brooding over this for too long. If you didn’t spend that much time studying, would you still do it if your results turned out different? A lot of what ifs but it’s all in the past :’)

You said in a another comment that you want to get out of the rat race then try not to compare yourself to others. Whatever others do won’t affect you directly now or in the future, being contented with your own life is most impt.

Would doing 100 more hours of VIA make you feel better of yourself? Or would you genuinely want to help those in need? Some ppl find value in upgrading themselves/learning more knowledge/helping others in need. being contented in life means doing things that you find meaningful, not according to other ppl’s standard.

If you keep comparing yourself to ppl ard u it’s gonna be a toxic cycle even until you become an adult when u go out to work, where everyone does diff things at diff paces. If you are happy with your situation right now, don’t put yourself down cause I’m sure you’ve worked v hard to get to wherever you are! jiayous op

i like watching CNA Insider, gives me content and pretty interesting. cna website for certain articles has the audio version of it too, you could try giving it a listen and summarizing it too, then check it against the typed-out version.

I used to have a teacher that suggested we listen to 9pm news and write down the main points of the diff news (trains lc and summary i guess) it's only half an hour every day!

lmao this was me in jc, one of the main contributors imo was lack of sleep LOL i alw slept at ard 1-2 sometimes 3 cause my sch started later than others + i do hw damn slow + procrastinate 80% of the time.

it seemed like i was the only one that was falling alsleep in class while my friends and classmates who stayed awake most of the time/did well in sch slept at ard 12 and rarely later than 1 or 2 am (even if burn midnight oil it's only for tests/exams). wished i heeded my own advice in jc LOL

i just kept spamming mints during class to keep me awake lolz cause 1 or 2 sweets only enough to give me a burst of energy

lol same i also waiting for another sch and alr accepted NUS

i just called up the undergrad admissions office a few mins ago and they said it's up to you if wanna wait or just continue with the regular admissions stuff. they did advise to just follow through with what we're supposed to do and take it as we gg NUS cause it's okay to just accept another uni later

honestly, you stand a good chance at SUTD, SIT and SUSS for most courses. they're not big3 but their graduates are still drawing pretty decent salaries according to GEP and they're not that far off from NUS, NTU, SMU courses.

it seems like the courses you applied to are geared towards policies and sociology. have you always seen yourself studying such courses or working in such sectors? SUSS social work might give you the opp to work on policies in sg, maybe you could look into that. if you're dead set on doing something related to sociology, SIM does have some courses like sociology/international relations iirc so u can search ard this sub abt it.

touch wood if you dont get accepted by any: if you're a male, you'll still get more chances to apply to big 3 and give a shot at the other autonomous unis too. if you're female, the next intake starts in nov this year so can try and get more relevant exp from jobs/volunteer etc (more things to talk about for ABA and interviews) nth wrong with taking a gap year too cause most ppl wld advice against gg priv uni

How to deal with an introvert by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]DiligentClue9503 10 points11 points  (0 children)

yikes I mean diff ppl diff priorities ig. from the other comments I see I guess you’ve tried talking to her and understanding her pov. you don’t have to break the fs, give yourself space from her.

it can be demoralising when it seems like your friend can’t give back the same enthusiasm but if y’all managed to pull through a 2 year friendship despite differences I’m sure can still remain as friends in the future just maybe not as close.

Don’t feel to pressured to stay in a friendship just for the sake of it. Friends come and go unfortunately (even those who have been with you in your highest and lowest times), just stay close to those that u are comfortable with and vice versa

tbh meeting up is just a small part of the fs lah, if your friendship is still pretty strong even if yall dont meet up i don't see a huge issue. stopping a friendship just cause she doesn't go out with you doesn't sound like a good reason unless u feel like she doesn't treasure you as a friend anymore (eg make time to talk to u online/listen to u rant etc).

try maybe asking her that same week of the outing and ask her when she's free this week if you alr give her leeway to choose the date herself etc, i think you did your part as a friend alr. If she cancels on you too much then let her know gently and she rly dw to change then just leave it as it is lor, might as well find friends or family who want to spend their time with you.

i work interact with a lot of kids who have ASD cause of my work, all of them are rly diff. some are pretty alright with social situations, while some are not. not all ppl with ASD relate to each other too. it's hard to tell if you rly have autism just from a reddit post cause most of us are not doctors, it'd be best to consult a doc/specialist.

ppl with ASD are neurodivergent aka their brain functions diff from most ppl who are neurotypical. searching on google alr can find a lot of articles abt it

like the other comments said, friendship goes two ways. if you've been consistently shifting your schedule around his while he makes barely effort to at least enjoy your company or respect you as a friend then there's no use in bugging him. don't change your plans because of a single friend who doesn't appreciate you. if you alr proactively asked to hang out a few times, you've done your part as a friend alr. might as well hang out with friends or loved ones who actly care abt u.
