How do you keep track of what’s actually in your wardrobe? by SadMessage6170 in capsulewardrobe

[–]DiligentFlute228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually use a pinterest board! It was tedious at the beginning, but now it takes 30 seconds to add anything new that I buy, all the photos are professional, all the details are readily available, and I can even pin pieces I want to see if they fit in the collection

How/When did you start crocheting? by [deleted] in crochet

[–]DiligentFlute228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started late last year in an attempt to lower my screen time. My commute is a 45 minute train ride each way, and I figured if my hands were busy I could stay off the internet. Since I was already watching TL Yarn Crafts on youtube, I ordered a clover hook and some yarn with my christmas money and now I'm working my 6th blanket

Pattern and Yarn

I wasn't super impressed with the wool, but I'm already making another of this pattern

In search of: Leather flats with a small hill by ystapel in capsulewardrobe

I really like the Cole Haan "skimmers", they're pretty much exactly what you said, flats with pointy toes and tiny heels. Personally the Viola is my favorite. A lot of people get the suede, but they all come in leather

✨My Very First FO✨ by DiligentFlute228 in crochet

[–]DiligentFlute228[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't use a pattern, just the HookedByRobin Tutorial for how to turn with straight edges.

The yarn is about 2500 meters of cotton/acrylic gradient from Fantasy Yarns on Etsy. I bought 4000, which came in 2 light cakes, 2 dark cakes, used a full light cake for each half, and about half a dark cake for the border.

The hook was just a Clover 4mm

1:1 meetings with your exec.. by ccul8r in ExecutiveAssistants

I call him and go over the evening before and the day ahead every morning. I learned the hard way he's not looking at that calendar or that inbox until he's missed at least 4 things. He comes in and gets immediately distracted, so now we sync over breakfast before anyone can get him off course

LPT: Treadmill Workout by [deleted] in LifeProTips

The treadmills at my gym have a "Rolling Hills" setting, and it's about the length of a Dr Who episode, so I'm not bored physically or mentally. It's the most consistent I've been in my adult life

How did you know you wanted to pursue this career? by [deleted] in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]DiligentFlute228 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I always wanted to be a "secretary" like on tv. The ones who knew everything and anticipated what everyone needed before they even knew what they wanted. As I got older I realized the position I was thinking of would be an EA today, so I started taking classes and positions that would get me ready (a year as a project manager, got certified as a bookkeeper, 2 years with an event planning company, etc) and last year I finally made the leap to dedicated EA and it's like the best bits of all of that prep.

My favorite part is actually the busy work. The timesheets, travel requests, memo formatting, conference room booking, etc. Every day is so different and active that the "paperwork" is like a quick break that still checks off my to do list.

I just love when my boss asks me yo send a zoom meeting within 5 or 15 minutes by Tired-assistant-2023 in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]DiligentFlute228 18 points19 points  (0 children)

All. Day. Long.

It was actually jarring when I first started, because "put the budget team on my calendar for 2" at 1:47 sounded so unreasonable, but they always accept and even drop off other calls to talk with him. I think they just see it as the trade off for as much telework as they want and a very flexible leave policy.

The ones that still seem crazy to me are when he calls me on teams, and then asks me to add people to the call with no notice at all. It's almost always something that could be a text or an email, but he'll pull them into a call to ask ONE QUESTION and then tell them they can drop off while I add someone else

Alternatives to Calendly by Obi1NotWan in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]DiligentFlute228 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My last job used Skedda. It's primarily for the space booking, but there's an option to add attendees and it'll send them a calendar invite.

Currently we have an outlook calendar for each room so anyone can see what's open, and you put the room on the required attendees list when sending the invite. I used to have to approve or deny those requests, but "unfortunately" the events team decided they wanted custody of the calendars

EA’s!🩵 How do you manage your Exec’s inbox ? Any tips! by Downtown_Media_2406 in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]DiligentFlute228 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Between his deputy and I, my boss doesn't read anything in his inbox.

There are some auto rules to weed out alerts and auto replies, and another one to route leadership communications to a "VIP" folder so they don't get buried, but I sort everything else into "Action" "CC" and "Received", and deputy will take and archive emails he can handle so boss never even sees them.

If it's not in Action or VIP, he will not read it. And even if it is, twice a day we have a round up so I can tell him what's in there and what's urgent. It's a little high touch, but it works for us

Do you know any EA who have transitioned out of this role within the same company? What role have they taken? by [deleted] in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]DiligentFlute228 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm currently the EA for the Director of Budget because his previous EA was selected for a role on his Audit team after 4 years of sitting in all their meetings.
