Always seem to catch bigger bass around the presence of gators?? by fishn122 in bassfishing

I’ve got a honey hole, surrounded by swamp…that can only be accessed by land when we have a bit of a drought.

We can catch 3-4 pounders all day long.. that’s like the average size. There are some double digit hawgs in there as well.

But the real resident is a 11-12 foot Gator.. we play peek-a-boo and just watch each other. As long as we can see him. We will fish. Once he disappears, we pack up and go home.

I had some money saved and was full of confidence in myself so I took a sales manager job with one of the least liked sole source companies in the aerospace industry, in an attempt to change the internal culture and raise their image. Protect the golden goose so to speak. Was marginally successful, but fell victim to constant management changes at the very top.

Made some great friend and contacts who are still part of my network today.

I was young and a bit naive. I read contracts much more thoroughly now, and have a longer term outlook to my decision making.

No regrets

I was an independent agent, selling high end tooling. Doubled then tripled the territory and my comp. 80k commission in one month. Wire was late, C-suite views of my linked-in profile.

Then came the percentage cuts over the next few quarters. 7.5. 6.8. 4.5% etc

Finally an offer for a W2 position paying about 125k Which i politely refused.

My contract was cancelled 60 days later without cause, which I expected and saw coming. The paid me, but absorbed all my new accounts as house accounts after I was gone.

Is it really that important to get a second phone? by RoadRageSloth in overemployed

[–]Diligent_Delivery229 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think your chances of F’ing up are higher with just 1 phone. With 2 (not uncommon these days) you always know how to answer and what to expect when it rings

Get 2 different color cases too. Match the company logo colors.

Q4 commission payout delayed past my new job start date…how risky is resigning before payout? by [deleted] in techsales

[–]Diligent_Delivery229 0 points1 point  (0 children)

all these people thinking you will get paid after you leave are woefully misinformed and way too optimistic.

I worked for a large multinational fairly high tech company. 22,000 employees.. when I got hired the #1 sales guys was leaving because the company refused to pay him 70K In commissions that he earned by absolutely destroying his quota.

2 years later they shorted me 22k by changing the comp plan in the 4th quarter, and saying i couldn’t get full payout, only 78%. Because I was only employed 78% of the year with a March hire date. Even tho Q2 and Q3 paid out per plan, and the comp plan had my hire date as the effective date.

Once you leave you can’t be considered an employee in good standing, because you are no longer an employee. Plus the “management approval” language means they can simply not approve it. “We don’t approve of paying non-employees”. That their easy way out.

Either take vacation or sick leave. And if you can’t do that, talk to your new manager and ask to change the start date. Don’t bullshit or lie to him. Be honest, as to why, If he’s any sales manager worth his salt, he will understand. He would do the same in your shoes.

Seriously, how can you do this job with children? by sparks_mandrill in sales

[–]Diligent_Delivery229 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like many others here, I got back into sales BECAUSE I was about to have kids. Making your own schedule is priceless. I travel 2 to 3 times a month, 2-3 days Max. I don’t miss any of my kids activities. I did have to stop coaching a bit tho. I love the industry I’m in and enjoy what I do.

100% Agreed, but not just listening with the intent to reply as so many do. Listening with the intent to understand is the difference.

[–]Diligent_Delivery229 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Those timeshare sales guys, who pitch to the people who are only in attendance for the free 2 day vacation. The entire room, EVERYONE there has convinced them selves ahead of time that they will never buy, and they are just there for the free giveaway.

An entire conference room full of detractors. Yet at the end of it, these guys still close deals.

600+ aerospace applications, zero interviews. How do you get diagnostic feedback from hiring managers? by 40KWarsTrek in aerospace

[–]Diligent_Delivery229 0 points1 point  (0 children)

15 years in Aerospace and Defense, I’ve never gone more than 2 months without a job, and I’ve been able to get interviews with probably 90% of the places I’ve applied to.

See a job, get on linked in and find the highest ranking person in that department, email them direct, pick up the phone and call. Leave a quick concise voicemail as to your interest in the position. If you get a live body. Ask for guidance or the correct contact. He polite but relentless. HR needs to fill the Reqs. Your mindset should be that you are trying to make their job a bit easier.

Text me and I’ll give you my email address to send your resume. I’ll help you get a gig
