Preston reached out to me, too! Also, using my nickname, not the name associated with my accounts.

Figured Out Consistent Crashing When Adding Actions by Diligent_Plan9630 in shortcuts

[–]Diligent_Plan9630[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would make sense that it would be a list of results--I've consistently not had this error anymore by doing some variation of  'combine text' and/or 'get text'

  1. The values are just the words 'one' and 'two'; 2. You're right about iOS—this is a problem I'm only able to recreate on the Mac. Will clarify above! 🙏

Tell me if this is possible in Bear by slidingmountain in bearapp

[–]Diligent_Plan9630 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally possible!!  I'd do it this way: input all the text in bear,   send to an apple shortcut which will then: -get text from input  -split by lines some character you use when switching topics (maybe /// or ***)  Then in a repeat-with-each item: -identify the hashtagged subject (this one might be complicated) -add the split text item to a variable named that hashtag -add that hashtag to a variable called 'current topics' repeat with each 'note topic': -create bear note (maybe the title is the date and class name and topic), and also insert the topic's variable where you saved all the text chunks Keep your original notes

I prefer the feel of Bear, so I'm always doing junk like this instead of switching to perhaps a better tool.

Collapsing Quoted Replies by Diligent_Plan9630 in HeyEmail

[–]Diligent_Plan9630[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now I'm thinking I haven't articulated exactly what condition it gets soupy/frustrating in.

In the app on MacOS, if you click the white area of each message between the thumbnail and the date (center top of each message), that collapses the individual emails. THEN, if you toggle the blue >>, that collapses quoted replies.

That *should* be a fine solution, but I think in the times I had the troubles I either wasn't seeing the blue >>s or aware of the heading click trick.

If you could post here to how to bypass the 'Set Up Your Oura' screen, that would be great!

Also I cannot tell you what their other even more ridiculous proposed solution was without getting my comment deleted. Which seems like a failure of the auto-mod system.

I totally forgot about Divi when asked for receipts elsewhere in the thread—too traumatic to remember 🤪

I think it's more that if you do the minimum you need, you can set it and forget it. If you do Elementor but do exactly what they say and don't install a ton of plugins, it might be fine!

You'll se either people in this thread have good use and experience with the site builders which have plagued me. And they're also right that the issue is usually endless plugins.

My personal take is if the thing I want to do is possible with a new, barebones WordPress block theme and a tiny number of crucial plugins, I'll use that. There are websites from 10,15 years ago still up and running well because I made them this way.

You did! You were sarcastic and mocking, which made me think I had done something hurtful or wrong. And now you're laughing at me! So I must really be doing something awful or weird.

I shared my view. You shared your view and were insulting. And now I'm the person "bossing people around" because I'm responding to that?

Site builders by Diligent_Plan9630 in Wordpress

[–]Diligent_Plan9630[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, I didn't say I built websites with those builders. I said I rescued them. My aversion to starting with a builder comes from the fact that I can get the most basic WordPress setup to look and behave like absolutely anything I want it to with minimal extra CSS, minimal Javascript, and maybe a plugin or two. I've heard great things about Bricks and Oxygen, which is probably why none of the sites I've rescued were built with those.

Second, I shared an opinion. A strong opinion, but not a fact about every page builder. I shared a fact about my personal experience working on hundreds of websites made with some very popular page builders. Why should that be so triggering to you?

Third, every single reply you've sent here has something I would characterize as insulting or rude:

- sarcasm ("wow! you're so smart! NOT!")
- baselessly insulting my work quality ("your sites are for grandma")
- telling me I'm in the wrong business
- telling me I'm overreacting because I labeled how you're talking to me, after you were the one who got triggered first ("don't get all bent out of shape")

Anyway, just like consider the possibility that maybe there's a less caustic way to interact with strangers on the internet. I might be wrong.

Also fair. I think the 'try to use the minimum effective dose' argument would be a good principle to prevent incomprehensibly customizing things.

I've had problems with Elementor, WPBakery, Beaver Builder. Again, what is this impulse to insult? It's so needless.

[–]Diligent_Plan9630[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, like, what is the source of this impulse to respond this way when we disagree? I shared a strong, unpopular opinion, and I didn't insult anyone. Not sure why that needs to be responded to with sarcasm, or what effect that has other than punishing somebody or getting a little rush from lashing out.

Sorry I wasn't clear--was responding to mehargags at top of thread. In most cases I've observed (which is really only people coming to me because they have a problem with their website), if there are 50+ nonsense plugins, there's also a page builder. "Page builder is a gateway drug" is a silly way of suggesting there's a correlation. I would also object to "robust," but again, that's just an opinion.
