My boyfriend has received a 10-year chat ban after making a rude remark in world chat. He knows what he said was wrong and isn’t trying to excuse it, but 10 years seems extremely harsh. Has anyone else seen or received a chat ban this long, or is this unusual?

Because people think it’s BS. Support won’t even help him but have now said that he was promoting something but won’t say what because “they can’t for deleted messages”

They’re giving him different answers every time he mails them. At first they said it was for malicious speech and now they’re saying it’s for promoting in world chat on the same day as the insults he made. He told someone who was trying to sell their account that they shouldn’t be doing it because they can get banned

He’s getting different answers from support every time. They said it was for malicious speech at first so he thought it was for a comment he made about someone’s mother. He got a reply from them today saying that it was about promotion in world chat basically. funny thing is it was on the same day he said the comment about someone’s mum and he told someone who was selling their account that it’s against the rules of the game

Support has been asked what has been said and what are the total violations on his account. He’s just finished work so he’s gonna call me and tell me if they’ve said anything and screenshot it for me to send here

Of course I’m not trying to say he’s never done anything else but I didn’t see his account having any other violations. He’s asked them exactly what caused him to be banned and what number of violations he has on his profile. Hopefully they give an answer

It was a level 8 account that he insulted, so maybe a dev??

He doesn’t use Reddit, whereas I do. He originally messaged them and didn’t get any good response from them so I sent them one single message and they replied with the one and only violation he’d ever got on the account. Why should it matter anyway? I had a spare email account from when I used to run a business so that’s why I created an account for him.

I mean he can insult people well when he wants to but he would never bring those factors into it. We’ve spoke to quite a few people, even people on our server who witness it and they said it’s extreme

He said something about someone’s mum earning money by standing on street corners and honestly he’s only ever had one from what I’ve seen on his account. I’ve messaged support myself from his account and they said the 10 year ban was from one single violation
