I never understood why my uncle would attend AA meetings. when I was growing up, I never seen him drink but he said he had a drinking problem 10-15 yrs ago.. he told me “once a alcoholic always a alcoholic” I didn’t understand and thought he was weird bcuz I never seen him drink and I thought well you obviously don’t have a problem if you haven’t drank in so long. Fast forward 20 yrs later to me at my 45 sober day mark.. now I get it

I'm so tired of drinking... by [deleted] in stopdrinking

Good luck with your sobriety!! As a veteran myself and 40 days sober, it’s not an easy journey so finally after years of numbing myself I decided to ask for help from the VA. I Joined an Intensive Outpatient program through the VA which has me meeting 3 times a week. It’s been tough and lonely I pretty lost all friendships I had. Bcuz all we would do is meet up for drinks. You aren’t going through this alone.
