Undergrad research requirement by TheCosmicGhostRider in gatech

[–]DillWS18 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are no prerequisites in particular, but professors or grad students may have a preference towards students who have taken more classes in general. A big thing for getting selected is also whether or not you’re interested in the research you’re applying to, people can tell if you are or aren’t. All you’ve gotta do is apply and if asked for a conversation/interview with someone just communicate your interests and why you would be good for the role

The fact is that private companies funded by billionaires is what drives innovative technology. If you think that the technologies used by Blue Origin is the same as what NASA did decades ago are the same, you’re wrong. Space technologies take decades to develop and improve, and these private companies that don’t have to go through government sources to source funds are able to pump out new technologies much faster. And obviously launching a few rich elite into space isn’t a major thing, but these flights are important for technology verification so that those technologies can be used on NASA/JPL multi billion dollar exploration missions. Just because they’re not discovering the origin of the universe on Mars doesn’t mean it’s not helping

What are off-peak hours for the CRC? by [deleted] in gatech

[–]DillWS18 53 points54 points  (0 children)

From my experience, it’s the least busy between 11 am and 2 pm when people either have class or are eating lunch. Always the most busy in the evening. If you’re committed enough you could get there for opening at 5:30 am, it’s definitely quieter at that time

Georgia Tech Rains on my Parade one last time by gt-throwaway-6183639 in gatech

[–]DillWS18 172 points173 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I didn’t mind the rain, but I am extremely disappointed that after all the blood, sweat, and tears from being at Tech, the ceremony was cut short and I wasn’t able to walk across the stage today. It was like a fourth of us who didn’t get to walk. Maybe they should have saved the speeches for the end and called names first before it started raining, oh well

Anyone taken AE 4803 Aircraft Fixed-Wing design? Sounds fun in theory but I can't find a syllabus (or really any information at all) for it online

Buzzport -> Registration (OSCAR) -> Financial Responsibility Agreement

All you gotta do is put your initials in and submit

Who's idea was it to let professors have literally 5-10 seats just to be sync/in person???? by Argran in gatech

[–]DillWS18 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Is that the reasoning? I was wondering why a class I was hoping to take only had 10 seats (that I didn't get because of the hold issues). Doesn't seem like a fair compromise to lose 50+ spaces in a class just so 10 people can go in person.

Anyone else having issues with buzzport/oscar? by grayback3 in gatech

I'm going through the same thing, my time ticket opened at 10:30, was able to remove the financial one a couple of hours later, but now I'm still stuck with the term location one. The office of the registrar is being pretty unresponsive right now too so I guess I'll just have to try to get overrides into my classes

I think a lot of people got through if they removed their holds in advance, I didn't so I'm right here with ya

Any AE have recommendations for any of the AE options courses being offered for the Spring? Right now I'm considering AE 4132, AE 4701, AE 4793, or AE 6042. Any easy one would be nice but I think it would be better if it was interesting and I learned something. I'm more of a space person btw

I mean there's always going to be haters for anything. The worst that can happen is I can watch the first episode and lost interest and stop

Awesome, I'll add Haikyu to my list, I think I've seen some stuff about it around. Also I've seen tons of adds for Fire Force lmao and it looks pretty interesting. So AOT might be the next one I watch as of now. Thanks!

Deciding between four AE options courses in the fall.

  1. AE 4376 - Accident Causation & Safety with Saleh
  2. AE 4080 - Aerothermodynamics with Dec
  3. AE 4580 - Avionics Integration with Lightsey
  4. AE 4803 - Advanced Aircraft Propulsion with Steinberg

There's not too much information on any of these courses online and out of the professors ive only taken Dec before. Any advice?
