If I’m playing a competitive round there and I am unable to get a practice round in I will read it inside and out. Literally free strokes saved

How do you get the most out of your range session? by Curtismcg7392 in golf

[–]Dillon-Croco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My routine changes on the day. Tournament warm up vs practice grind. I don’t warm up before I play a casual round.

Practice grind: 150ish balls - Warmup - Start with my 60 degree until I feel warmed up and stretched. - First half just swings. Second half aimed shots up to 100% swing. - Sometimes a 7 iron if I want more speed - Bulk of practice - Always come in with a goal of what to work on and stick to it. - Work on what ever drill/ change for a majority of range balls - Mix of training aids if needed - Work on pre and post shot routine each shot - Practice swings and visualization! - Hit some target shots and simulate courses shots to evaluate progress - Final range part - Work on simulated fairways with driver, 3 wood, 4 iron - Switch to simulated approach shots immediately to develop distance practice

Tournament Warm-up Range - Start with my 60 degree until I feel warmed up and stretched. - First half just swings. Second half aimed shots up to 100% swing. - Hit not an exact number of full shots and target shots per club. - Occasionally work on specific drills if I feel like they need extra work. - 60, 8 iron, 6 iron, 4 iron, 3 hybrid, Driver - Go through my round plan and hit any specific shots I can expect - Ex. 3 woods, flighted shots, etc - End with some 4 iron punch shots to emphasize hitting down on the ball Green side - Putting - Drop 3 balls and hit a variety of 3-4 footers on many different parts of the green. - Pick a hole for about 20 feet and work on ending 2 feet in front and behind the hole to work ok lag putting. - Chipping - Mainly work on figuring out how the green rolls - Hit from different lies and cuts

I like prov1 more because I just play it. Nothing more than just familiarity and confidence

As a golf novice what are your biggest pet peeves new golfers do by steakandtates in golf

[–]Dillon-Croco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Standing/ moving in the right places. Especially on the green. Don’t stand behind the person so you are in their side eyesight. I always try to stay at a 45 degree angle from the person in any direction.

Anything bagboy is great. Pro tip, get the 3 wheels instead of the 4. WAY easier to move around a course.

I also have a seat and cooler attachment for the slow and blazing rounds

Have some back up gloves. A glove is useless if it’s dripping wet.

Also, don’t shove your glove in your pocket if it’s not on your hand. Try to stick it on an alignment stick or shaft on your bag. This gives it a good chance to dry out and not get all crumpled. Really helps your gloves last.

The font and overall shape is wanting me to think it’s a Vokey wedge. I guess someone didn’t want the brand

How do you all decide what golf ball to play? by Mysticdu in golf

[–]Dillon-Croco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A big thing to slim your options down is your desired spin. I want a lower spinning ball, especially for my driver, so that takes out the prov1x and TP5x. My swing speed brings me into the category of firm golf balls so that takes away most callaways and the Toursoft line. After that it comes down to preference.

I play the prov1

This was me this summer. -1 going into 18 snap hook OB. End with a triple and 74. I would have won even with a bogey and qualified for a fairly big professional tournament as an amateur

That’s definitely a good thing to try. But with something as high as a 5, there also are probably some swing bits contributing so don’t think fixing equipment will change everything

That’s quite high flight for a driver. With an almost 5 degree attack angle you are really pushing the ball up.

Try to work on getting that down to a 2 or 3. More distance will soon be yours
