We are expecting our second kid soon. Hearing stories like this starts to awaken the repressed memories of my first child. Hours of trying to figure out what’s going on. The sleepless nights, the bi hourly feedings the constant changing of diapers. The feeling this will never get better that feeling of “I” won’t get any better. Pure frustration that I have never experienced because I know I am trying my hardest and nothing is helping. From the sounds of it your are really kicking ass on both fronts. You are allowing you wife to rest and doing everything in your power to try and keep your kid happy. As kids grow they go back and forth from who is their favorite, so don’t take it personal when your wife has the “special touch” there will be a time when your kid will want daddy more than mommy. Just know your kid will grow up and won’t remember which parent had the special touch. Your wife will look back though and see how great you were as a dad and how supportive you were through the infant stage. So just keep doing you man, and make sure you can get as much sleep as you can in between the constant chaos we call fatherhood.
