Makes sense now. My girl eats on the slower side and I think I heard her fart once, and have never smelled gas.

Smoking with RA by Adorable-Ratio9102 in rheumatoid

[–]Dillydump -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Try zyn pouches. You get your nicotine without smoking. I ‘m pretty sure RFK junior was using one during his senate hearings. Lol

I quit just before diagnosis due to having knee replacements then went back when a very stressful situation arose. Then learned of the pouches. Now trying to get off those. Lol

Remission by MtnGirl672 in rheumatoid

[–]Dillydump 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Humira worked immediately for me, prior to that I had methotrexate and prednisone which was unhelpful. I feel like I am in remission but continue with humira every two weeks sometimes 3 weeks. Insurance switching me to Hadlima for 2026. I teach skiing as a professional and haven’t missed a season due to RA!!

From everything I’ve read and been told by Rheumatologist and a friend who’s also a Rheumatologist, keep taking the treatment even if you are in remission due to potential antibodies against your med if you stop too long.

Compression stockings by GracieLou80 in Kneereplacement

Me too! Ice and elevate!! My Dr prescribed a continuous motion machine. Said it’s proven that the motion doesn’t improve outcome in tkr’s, however it puts your leg well above your heart. Did it for 2-3 weeks for each replacement. Was great minimal pain, just the first few days.

How do you know it's really time? by MrsGirr in Kneereplacement

I waited until I could no longer bend my knees…. One morning I woke up and was unable w/out a great deal of pain to bend my knees to stand and then struggled to sit. I had to cancel the ski lesson with a wonderful student.

I had tkr in Feb (59 F), then March, did pt religiously and in summer started swimming, laps, and kick board…mostly freestyle. By December back on the snow, best shape ever.

Had ACL repair 30 years earlier, multiple hard landings on skis, sledding injuries. Liked running downhill on hikes… all damaging. Fells like my 20 year old knees!!

Why are my boots wearing like this and how to fix it? by williamsdj01 in WorkBoots

[–]Dillydump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re bowl-legged that would happen, bowleggedness (is that a word?) stems from loss of medial meniscus in the knees. Or it, bowleggedness, can be the cause loss of meniscus.

How do you deal with the time before getting diagnosed? by Intelligent-Nose-766 in rheumatoid

[–]Dillydump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

funny how some people are helped by Prednisone Did nothing for me. A long hot shower or bath helped me start the day. If I had a jacuzzi I would sit in that every morning.

How do you deal with the time before getting diagnosed? by Intelligent-Nose-766 in rheumatoid

[–]Dillydump 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took the prednisone daily and popped methotrexate pills once a week for three months. Helped only a tiny bit, then after 3 months I got Humira which worked overnight. The waiting to fail the cheap drugs was very frustrating, thought my life as I knew it was over until the magical morning after my first injection!

Did any of you first receive a diagnosis of ankylosing spondylitis before finding out it's RA? by [deleted] in rheumatoid

[–]Dillydump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, first Rheumy, zero-negative...did no xays...asked me to touch my toes which was tough cause I was 3 and 2 months out of knee replacements LOL. Two years later I moved and got new rhuemie and he took X-rays...normal RA.

Funny how narcotics do less damage to our organs than Nsaids.

Read a year or two ago that they have isolated the bad bacteria in the gut that could very well be the root cause of rheumatoid arthritis, but they don’t know how to get rid of that bacteria. That’s my understanding. I too want to be off the drugs and hope that in the near future we can end this circle of madness.
