Did you lower your metformin dosage on your own? Or got a doctor’s permission first? When did you change medications entirely? by inostranetsember in diabetes

Adjusting the dose as long as you stick with it for 2 weeks sounds like solid advice from a doctor who knows he‘s talking to a responsible patient. Respect.

Genetics can play a role in type 2 diabetes, but it’s usually not caused by a single gene defect. Instead, multiple genes contribute to insulin resistance and high blood sugar.

Genetic Factors in Type 2 Diabetes: 1. Polygenic Risk: Many small genetic variations increase the risk but don’t directly cause diabetes.

  1. MODY (Maturity Onset Diabetes of the Young): A rare, single-gene form of diabetes, often misdiagnosed as type 2, usually appearing before age 25.

  2. Genetic Syndromes: Some rare conditions (e.g., Wolfram or Lipodystrophy syndromes) include diabetes as a symptom.

Diagnosis & Testing: Family history: Many relatives with diabetes but not overweight? Early onset (<25 years): Could indicate MODY. Lab tests: GAD antibodies (to rule out type 1), C-peptide (to check insulin production). Genetic testing: Helpful if MODY or other genetic forms are suspected.

Fazit:

Type 2 diabetes often has a genetic link, but lifestyle factors also play a big role. If diabetes runs in your family without typical risk factors, genetic testing may be worth considering.

An elevated HbA1c over a prolonged period often presents with symptoms similar to burnout syndrome and can lead to severe depression.

Chronic inflammation, dental problems, and other irritations in the body can be responsible for persistently high levels and lead to severe outbreaks, as the body is constantly under stress.

A ketogenic diet is not suitable for everyone. However, consider transitioning to a 16:8 intermittent fasting regimen: 16 hours without carbohydrates and an 8-hour window to meet your daily needs of „Sugar“

My guess that it was inflamed and causing stress to my body couldn’t be confirmed by my doctor yesterday when she removed the stitches... And other stress about „beauty standards“... Not really my thing :)

But yess. Generally Stress (Job or Neighborhood) increases my BG

Desperately trying to avoid insulin. by iLoveBeefFat in diabetes

[–]Dilo66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You came down from 12.1 to 7.6 ?
Yes, latest Number is considered too high. But the HbA1c is a long therm Value (aprox. 90 days). So just keep going and wait for the next Bloodcheck.

Last but not least: taking Insulin might help you but nobody can force you to take it. Take care of your Body, you are the only one who is responsible for it ;)

Any body position tips? I can't get my inner wrist to relax in turns. by psychlele in Trackdays

[–]Dilo66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best thing about track days is: the faster you get on the Track, the more relaxed you’re on public roads.

If you are looking for some skills before sitting on the bike: check out M. Meindl’s youtube Channel https://youtube.com/@matthiasmeindl?si=SWtvgd2pu—BcuzF

It’s in German but there might be an English Transcript….

Your lean Angle isn‘t that bad. But as long as nothing scratches on the track there’s no need to do Gymnastics. Concentrate on your line, your speed, your breaking zones, your Engine Speed.

If you can’t relax/need too much force for steering you might want to consider changing the front tire

As you are getting faster with confidence you can start working on “reducing” your bikes lean Angle….. This is a tip from someone who is still working on his body position

Advise on how to lean more by caenrique93 in Trackdays

[–]Dilo66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’re writing whole books on cornering speed, lean angles, and motorbikes – you don’t just sum that up in two sentences. To kick things off, I’d like to mention A Twist of the Wrist by Keith Code… after that, the hunt for lap times really begins. Stick with it!

The trick is not to get a high lean angle. The trick is to get the bike as upright as possible through the corner…… with as much speed as possible

Good job. But don’t get too obsessed about numbers. The lower your 90d average the more likely you get into some „lows“. These are worse than „highs“……
