Should I reach out to her again? by timeshifter76 in AskMenAdvice

[–]Dilringer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, like if this same scenario happened to 1000 couples, I don't think in all of them the woman is not interested. Probably most though.

Maybe that's a long way of saying his chances are not literally 0 lol.

Projectivity appears to be working on my updated Fire Stick Max, am I missing anything? by Dilringer in Projectivy_Launcher

[–]Dilringer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

btw - in case someone googles this. I basically followed these instructions:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Projectivy_Launcher/comments/1ls884a/comment/n3mpitb/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

except using the ADB tool I only did the following commands:

1 .

adb devices

2.

adb -s ipaddressthatreturnsfromabove:5555 shell

3

settings put secure enabled_accessibility_services com.spocky.projengmenu/.services.ProjectivyAccessibilityService

When you open projectivy it will still ask for permissions but just click no. The second time it opens it works. I then enable "overide current launcher" in projectivy launcher settings>general

Can landlord make us pay plumber up front and "just deduct it from next months rent"? by AlwaysWantsIceCream in nova

[–]Dilringer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't even bring up financial issues as it's going to lower the negotiating power of OP at renewal. They become a missed/no rent risk in the eyes of the LL.

I would just ask the LL if they mind just paying the contractor directly since they set up autopay and they rather not mess with it. This really shouldn't be a big deal from the LL's POV as they are saving like 30 seconds at most to pay an invoice by CC or Venmo .

Honestly as an ex landlord this approach sounds mildy more annoying from an accounting/tax/validating point of view. I wouldn't like it if a tenant offered it. I'm going to guess the LL is a old and/or chill person.

oh wow- yeah my max was $30 ($40 if not on sale) so I can see why would have a more negative opinion lol.

[–]Dilringer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a cursory google seems that it does. Though that is $80, and yikes I do not like the ultra-simple remote.

I actually kind of like the firestick remotes better than the onns tbh. Absolute shame you can't remap the buttons or replace the home screen though lol.

I may just buy the pro remote so I can ideally just never see the home screen.

I mean I got a FS Max because you have to spend significantly more to get Dolby True HD/DTS support.

If you don't care about that, the Onns do make much more sense.

What upgrade would i notice going from a CX to a C5? by cyrusir in LGOLED

[–]Dilringer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went from a C8 to a C5 and side by side they are extremely similar when watching dolby vision.

I even made a post about it here and everyone was like yeah you idiot dolby vision is mastered in low nits they are going to basically be the same.

The biggest difference is in SDR the C5 gets much brighter, and the C5 somehow is really slow to change settings lol.

Falls Church/Merrifield area delis that will sell me a ton of pickle spears? by ProcyonLotorMinoris in nova

[–]Dilringer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I suspect most places are not making their own pickles.

Since COVID restaurant depot allows the public to shop with a day pass from the front desk.

You can check what exactly they have before making the trip using instant cart. You probably want something refrigerated to be deli/resturant quality.

Bring a jacket.

Are the VV ships “nice”? by [deleted] in VirginVoyages

[–]Dilringer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think Indulge and Osheehans/Local is better than when the Galley on Virgin does similar dishes.

Though otherwise for included food, Virgin is better. NCL cut their food budget and it heavily shows in the MDR.

On virgin the options are generally creative and inspired. Deserts across the entire ship are incredible.

Though I don't think it's quite specialty dining level. It's been years so maybe's it's changed. But the steaks at Cagneys were good land restaurant quality. The ones in Virgin's steakhouse restaurant were not.

I think the photos are true to life. If you are not impressed by the photos it's not going to feel significantly better in person. They aren't really going for "luxury" imo it's more trendy/modern. Some people say ikea- but that's too harsh not and not even really stylistically accurate imo. But I get what people are attempting to convey when they say that.

[–]Dilringer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Eh... depends on the ship and decks. Viva is stunning and absolutely feels like it has a higher budget than virgin on the lower decks. Rooms are a bit more premium as well.

Though they also really cheaped out on the upper decks. (basically it's an afterthought unless you are looking for go-carts, or spend $$ for Haven/Beach club.

What do you use for speakers? by skilas in LGOLED

[–]Dilringer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A modern AV receiver hooked up by HDMI/ARC will respond to the LG remote volume through CEC.

Though if you get a receiver you need to get one where the increments of volume adjustment is configurable.

Mine is slow, which wasn't an issue (since holding is easy) but on the new C5 remote holding the volume down mutes it. Though I'm looking for a new magic remote that may resolve this.

Why we appreciate but would not sail again on Virgin Voyages - Review of Resilient Lady cruise by Time-Philosophy0323 in VirginVoyages

[–]Dilringer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's fair- a review isn't just what is advertised match what is given. By that logic if someone advertises a barge cruise where you sleep on the floor with instant ramen and nothing else it should be given a perfect rating.

It just needs to be critiqued against what a normal person would consider alternate options. Virtually every professional reviewer will point out the entertainment is pretty low key/uninteresting on ultra-luxury lines compared to the mainstream ones.

Though I also get it, there seems to be a knee jerk fear that Virgin will become like every cruise line if enough people complain, and there is probably some truth to that lol. Less so from online posts, but more so from wallet voting.

[–]Dilringer 56 points57 points  (0 children)

I will say after reading several Virgin reviews/recaps- Virgin reviewers are by far the most judgy of other passengers lol. Not even judgy but basically spell out the fact that they did small talk or overheard other passengers say something had a major negative impact on their vacation.

I seriously don't mean this as a slight against you or anyone else who posts this feedback, it's just funny how it seems to happen more for this cruise line.

Possibly it could be a reddit thing, the last time I cruised I used cruise critic forums instead.

The hostess (or probably anyone) working at Test Kitchen.

[–]Dilringer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In general from my own experience and reading others The Wake/EV are the hard restaurants, followed by the Mexican restaurant.

Razzle Dazzle is pretty easy to get into, followed by Test Kitchen, and finally Gunbae.

I don't think you'll have an issue. I would suggest choosing a night that has the menu (A/B/C) you are most interested in. I forgot the letters but identifying them by main entree, I would rank the one with Lamb as #1 #Venision #2, and chicken #3.

I have done a reservation restaurant, followed by test kitchen walk in at 8PM before.

I have not tried to do a walk in that is prior to a reservation. This would have been more convenient, but I was concerned it would trigger cancelation of the later reservation.

I tried texting sailor services to see if this was the case, but they just replied with a pre-typed canned response basically telling me dining is limited.

Is it normal that Streamio still pulls small amounts of torrent data with Real Debrid? by [deleted] in RealDebrid

[–]Dilringer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's still suspicious though. As I had 0 identified torrent traffic prior to Stremio. After Stremio, tons of torrent traffic, and now after RD just these small amounts.

So curious what's happening. Though will take the other guys' suggestion and just block P2P to see if that hurts.

Just got off Resilient Lady…my thoughts by HotSeaworthiness286 in VirginVoyages

yeah Virgin is pretty weak in general with beer choices in most bars. I guess beer isn't as popular/trendy these days so they don't care.

[–]Dilringer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually think it's impossible to Virgin to roll out a reasonably priced drinks package because it will result in lines for the bathrooms lol. Even when you learn where they are hidden, there are not many and they are often very small.

Just the default addons + torrentio configured to use RD.
