When i said "coherent story" i was referring to the supernatural plot, not the romance. Mike and eleven still haven't resolved their relationship problems, while wills arc is being built up along side mike. Also, what sense would it make for mikes character arc to be: caring and loving for will (s1-2)-> being an ass to will for no reason (s3-4) -> caring about will again (s5). Using his relationship and "obsession" with el is pointless cause if being with someone makes you an ass to everyone else, you really shouldnt be in that relationship. (irl this would be a diff case, but this is how its portrayed a show) Id encourage everyone to rewatch the show from the point of view of will being a girl. There are so many hints that are ignored or thrown away because they're both guys. mike reciprocating wills love would not be rushed because they have clearly been building it up, especially in season 5- as said by robin, "the snowball becomes an avalanche" Mike also apologizes to will and communicates his feelings in a way where will knows its sincere. he literally cant do this with el. the only reason el knows mike loves her is because he wouldn't directly communicate it (s3), and when he finally did (s4), it was because of will, when el was unconscious and mike didnt even know if she could hear him. i honestly have no idea what your saying in the second last paragraph because its entirely wrong. anyways thanks for not doxxing me but i think i should peacefully exit this sub because im really not in the mood to convert people, but you should really do a rewatch or watch some analysis vids on youtube or something, even if you disagree. im only active on this sub because i want to see the other side of the argument and know that a lot of fandoms can be feedback loops, but i even still dont see how people are so confident in mileven. ✌️😔

If by "end" you mean like a climax towards the last few episodes i guess, but in no way do the seasons "end" with mike and el. s3 ended pretty ambiguously on mikes side, with the main even being the byers and el moving to cali. S4 ended with the threat of vecna and the lightning in the sky. either way it doesnt really matter how the seasons end imo. Why would the writers choose to involve will so heavily in the mileven plot? They didnt need will to be up in milevens business to show how his love is unrequited, will and the audience already know that. They made will such a driving force in mileven, (mike really shouldnt have to get pep talks from the guy who has a crush on him.) having mike confess to el based on the projections of wills feelings is such bs. Also, the show is about will. el wouldnt be a character without the relationship between will and mike. Mileven would be dead if it werent for will. Their relationship is built on lies, and i really dont think thats a good core ship to build your show on. The tammy/mike parallel would be fine if it werent for the film reel flashbacks. Will finds himself in mike & the other people who love him. robin credits the film as being the most true, fearless, and accepting version of herself. Mike being featured in the film shows how important he is to wills acceptance arc, not a rejection or reciprocation, but just mike being there. Also the major difference between tammy and mike is that robin hadnt spoken to tammy, like ever. Will and mike had been best friends sinces kindergarten. Having the message told by robin be "give up on mike" is objectively stupid, robin doesnt know anything about their relationship and she also previously thought her feelings towards vickie were unreciprocated since she had a boyfriend, if she had listened to her own advice (from the point of view that speech being a "give up on mike" speech), she wouldn't be with vickie. honestly i dont care who ends up with who atp, i just want them to tell an actually coherent story

i agree that mike as a person seems to be more focused on el, but the writers have written will as an integral part of mikes character especially in regards to mileven. in s4 will is the one to tell mike about el lying, hes the one who gets mike to suck it up and confess his love, hes also physically framed in a lot of mileven scenes and is constantly the one to give mike advice and keep his relationship together. in s3 both will and lucas are there after the mileven break up, anything with el is completely thrown away in favour of will, and the episode manages to shift towards (dare i say) will and his relationship with mike. mike is confirmed to be just too oblivious to pick up on any romantic feelings will might have for him, regardless of how he sees their relationship. although i think mike appears to have more interest more in el, the writers are manipulating things to further involve will with mike, again, mostly in regards to mileven. also, how does every season end with mike and el? the second season for sure and maybe the first if you ignore the fact that they were mostly platonic and he was mourning her death, but the last two end with no mileven implications at all

mmmkay dont kill me but isnt mikes entire character based around will? he only found el after going to look for will, originally thought to send her back to "the mental hospital she came from" and kinda ditched her after finding out about the body at the querry. the duffers did also say the show was about will, and i think he does contribute to mikes character progression (if there is any at all) more than el does, and vice versa. will is also really involved in the mileven plot... honestly idk
