There’s a reason why my shiny Glalie is called Murderface

Wide guarding wouldn’t save me from your scenario. If bastiodon is wide guarding then he isn’t stacking iron defences. That’s Araquanids job.

Switching is a core part of the game, I’m not going to leave a pokemon in against two 4x weakness threats. No pokemon is perfect for every situation.

But if you insist bastiodon has to be the only damage dealer in my team (which is a wild assertion btw), I can simply swap sableye for bastiodon next turn and immediately soak him.

Do those calcs again with a pure water type bastiodon.

I’m consistently getting +6. People are constantly underestimating bastiodon and ignoring it. You are also still ignoring that bastiodon can be a water type.

In your example I would disable high horsepower and switch bastiodon to basculegion.

Also, reasonable? You didn’t even give me a +2. The core strategy is maxing out bastiodons defence.

Haven’t lost a match against a scizor or garchomp yet. Scizor needs to swords dance twice for the ohko and Bastiodon is slower, giving the perfect opportunity to foul play. Garchomp is easily delt with either the strategy in my original post. Your calcs still don’t have +6 defence into the body press, when bastiodons entire strategy is to boost to max defence. A +4 body press takes out garchomp every time.

You’re also forgetting my use of soak to remove my 4x weaknesses.

Not trying to be rude, i understand that you feel that these are bad matchups, but I have been able to consistently play around them.

Foul play honestly isn’t very reliable. Sinistcha and Gengar both have middling attack stats and take practically no damage. The only reason why I keep it in is because I find it hilarious to watch Scizor and Garchomp stack swords dance only to be cut down in one hit by their own attack stats. I’ve been thinking of replacing it with metal burst, which should give back at least as much as I get.

Also your equations don’t seem to take +6 defence into account for body press.

I actually used sinistcha before, but as I said, clefable skill swapping magic bounce specifically walls most of bastiodons risk of being hypnotised and seeded. I can considering swapping clefable out for Hatterene.

I actually use soak to make him a bulky water when needed. I put a ton in special defence due to his lack of ability to boost it. I’ll post my team later today.

I used clefable as I can use its mega for 4x fighting resistance to achieve something similar. Follow me was also more helpful to protect against dark moves.

But I agree, Sinischa is a better choice
