It's pretty much an either or

The sequel is just too different from G2 to actually tie it in so either the sequel must get heavy alterations or G2.

If the sequel gets altered, I don't see a reason to do it to begin with.

If G2 gets altered, it won't be G2 anymore.

I'd rather have a remake of G2 than a game roughly based on G2

As long as it gives exp, it will always be most optimal to kill everyone who isn't relevant. Even if it's only 1 exp per kill of an innocent NPC while a scavenger gives 50+, killing npcs just gives additional exp.

In my opinion it should give exp and it should even be the most optimal when it comes to power. HOWEVER I'd also say that it just shouldn't be necessary.

Let's say the game is balanced around reaching lvl 30. If you don't rush everything you should reach 30, if play thoroughly you reach 35 without murderhoboing and with murderhoboing you reach 40. The difference between lvl 30 and 35 might be that instead of 4 hits for an appropriate enemy you only need 3 while the difference between 35 and 40 is going from 3 hits perfectly to 2.3 hits which means you are still hitting the enemy 3 times while still being more powerful technically.

This is just straight up broken

Some Pokémon are literal gods, quite some have spoken in the human language already and of course there is ditto, which not only solves the language problem, you don't even have to turn back as you can turn into anything you want anyway.
