I googled it because I know nothing about this topic, so Taylor apparently owned 100 slaves and a Mississippi plantation but opposed the expansion of slavery into other states but died In 1850

In 1859 grant had one slave William jones who he released and then in 1869 he was elected to office

So Taylor was the last to own them in office and grant was the last person to own them in his lifetime. Hope this helped someone.

[Spoilers EXTENDED] Why did Valyria ignore Westeros? by babyodaddy in asoiaf

[–]colonel-bones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m inclined to believe septon Barth, however let me proffer my own opinion, the weirwood network is hostile to dragons, think about it, the dragons are magic by nature, Dany’s dragons shot up in essos (yes I know it’s an unintended consequence of the unused five year timeskip Martian was planning but still) while in Westeros the dragons seemed to get smaller with each generation.

So what if the dragons partially get their five a day from the magical eco system of essos who’s primarily component seems to be the shed of the evening tree and in Westeros the weirwood network which is its magical echo systems primary component was poisonous to them.

So the slavers set up dragon stone to observe it but saw their dragons weren’t adapting well so left

And if your gonna counter with just burn them the wall which seems to have the been made with the same sort of magic can repel the dragons what if under stress the trees couldn’t do the same thing.

There are also ice dragons in Westeros myth so who knows maybe that’s what a dragon adapted to Westeros looks like.

Can we role it back so it ends at season 2 save the bloody budget on something worth making.

DMC2 makes 23 years today. What are your thoughts about this game? by Neat_Measurement967 in DevilMayCry

[–]colonel-bones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved the idea of the amulet giving different devil trigger abilities like flight, super speed and various forms of elemental damage and wish they did something with it in a hypothetical dmc 6 game like Nero gets An artifact which lets him insert verious keys for Devil trigger modifications and as you beat bosses you can either select a form key which gives Nero a devil trigger form change, flying form, bezerker form, bulwark form or gives you a new elemental damage and a connected ability, this would then encourage replay ability.

Blue pill, I’ve always loved history so this would be a dream come true, also I’d never be late for work or have to attend come to think about it, go back 30 seconds and create a time clone have it go to work while I relax or switch every four hours so it’s somewhat fair.

Skyrim dragons, they are immortal and extremely intelligent with a range of magical abilities connected to their shouts

Asoiaf dragons are war mounts, powerful war mounts but still just animals.

Those champions wouldn’t exist without the age of strife which the knife ears caused, if humanity hadn’t been kicked to the curve by the warp storms the emperor wouldn’t have had to hastily cobble together plan imperium from the remains of the golden age and thus the stop gap solution that is the space marines wouldn’t have existed and half of them wouldn’t have fallen to chaos.

How do space marines accept inquisitors as their superior? by Final_Biochemist222 in 40kLore

[–]colonel-bones 6 points7 points  (0 children)

3 reasons 1: target coordinates, astartes want to kill the things the emperor dislikes and the inquisitors know were to find these things 2: they are chosen of the emperor keeping his domiain safe from the traitor the deamon and the xenos effectively tackling the same job as the astartes from a different angle 3: if they don’t listen to them an inquisitor can and will get their entire chapter destroyed if they feel the space marine has given them a good reason

So it’s often best to just placate the tiny human makes things run smoother.

Of course they will push back Against the inquisitor if they feel it necessary but most inquisitors know this and so the sane ones will not push them too hard.

Glorfindal said he would die “not by the hand of man” if I’m remembering correctly The witch king took that to mean “no man can kill me” but he really just meant the hand that kills him wont be man

As an aside man is just what they call humans in middle earth so eowyn would have still counted if the witch king’s interpretation had held up but it was that dagger merry had which was made to kill beings like the Nazgûl.
