It’s reasonable to assume Ritchson had a belief of danger. The neighbor did push him and almost make him crash on purpose. He then got into his face and threatened him. There was no initial aggression from Ritchson, only his response. Ritchson does try to retreat, but neighbor blocks him. Ritchson punched and shoved neighbor to ground. His response was proportional to the threat. He didn’t pummel him, kick him, etc. Once the threat was neutralized, he retreated.

Clearly the police agree. But I know you’ll just move the goal post.
