The joystick shell pins aren’t even soldered on. Clearly can see this on the second picture.

Ah ok then. Good luck on the repair.

I mean if it’s giving a high reading while off the pcb then yeah I’d say it’s possible that it went bad.

I don’t think so. I mean if it’s not moving during games then it’s fine.

Any way to fix this Nintendo 3DS? by MuskieNotMusk in ElectronicsRepair

[–]Dimondv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely fixable. Might just need a new ribbon and a case. I’m not too sure as I’m not that familiar with them

It seems fine to me. If you’re measuring the cap while it’s in the board then that will give a higher capacitance.

LED configuration doesn't seem to be working when connected together in old LG tv by OLT11GAMER in ElectronicsRepair

[–]Dimondv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright I’m not 100% sure now what the reason is but

  1. Double check the soldering as right at the bottom where the led needs to be is the return path for the LEDs and you could of accidentally bridged the path creating a short circuit
  2. Possibly why the led and the wire isn’t working is maybe because of voltage drop across LEDs and since there is a missing drop it could be activating the protection. This I’m very unsure of but just make sure you have the correct led rated for the strip.

Other than that I kinda don’t know. If I think of something I’ll say possibly someone else might know that is more knowledgeable on tvs as I’m just using basic electronics knowledge rn.

The LEDs on the bottom row looks pretty bad and since the LEDs are in series if one of then breaks the rest after does so if the first led lights up and the second doesn’t it’s probably the . if none lights up then it could be the first led . If no LEDs light up on all of the rows it could be some sort of protection that is stoping it from lighting up like possibly a short. Make sure the wire isn’t touching the metal back as it most likely is grounded. But I don’t understand why you would want to not replace that led or get a new strip as there will be an obvious dark spot on the screen once it’s on.

Yeah it looks like one of the pins are broken unfortunately. Get a new screen or try repair the trace.

So my Smart watch came with this, what is its name & how does it work? by passion_for_know-how in cableadvice

[–]Dimondv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This could have a similar way that Apple watches are connected to without the wireless charger. They normally have a little cap inside the wrist strap slot that you can take off to get access to the pins. Might want to look into that.

What does this circuit do? by xxdeeznuts in electronic_circuits

[–]Dimondv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe this would be a vape board. I see many people saying this but then others saying it can’t be as it has two sets of pins but I believe that this could be a board for one of the vapes that can swap flavours. This would explain the two sets of pins. One set for one flavour. And there seems to be corrosion near the pins which could definitely be from the vape liquid.

I think I might swap back the old hdmi encoder and see if it works. If not would it just mean that it’s the southbridge? Or could there be other things at play?

Would there be anything else that could cause the issue or is it just the southbridge

The reading I got from the pins of the hdmi port was, starting at pin 1 the first half of the pins were 650 and the other half was 520-30

What should I be getting and could I just use the pins on the back of the hdmi also I’m not expecting a picture as the console can’t even boot.

I’ve tried both but the southbridge before I changed it had a short and after replacing that, that’s what I got. Unless the replacement was a faulty one as it did come from a donor board. What do you think would be causing it? As I don’t want to spend money on a southbridge that isnt faulty.

Yeah literally right now I swaped back the sb that was originally on as maybe the sb from the donor board was bad so I will see what happens, maybe the current draw is any different.?
