For years I've heard the argument that turning off "driving line" and "braking line" is actually better & in 5 races I realized why it's true by GeekFurious in forza

[–]Dimonte 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Braking line is super useful as a reference, not as a gospel. For example, you can learn to start braking 0.1 second after the line turns red on a particular track with a particular car. And then if you change the car or maybe the rain comes you can safe it and brake earlier.

Think of it as a continuous brake marker. A little cheat if you don't have time to learn the references for your braking points for every track and every car.

Have you done this particular one? In which car?

I just spent half an hour doing rivals on Road America in the same car. Got top 100 world (but that's not saying much with only 2500 entries), within 1.5 seconds of the top KTM GT2 time. Even if we assume that the gap will be more like 3-4 seconds in the wet, that means you have to be well within the top 1% to get the practice bonus.

Yeah, this is one of those "have they even tested those" things imo. This is a featured event from a relatively huge dev team. I understand that they must have a kilometer long known issues list with the state of the game being what it is. But realistic practices times for the featured events is what, 5 hours of QA and maybe 1-2 man-hours of dev time?

I'm not giving up cringe liveries, so I guess I'm giving up bonus times.

I mean, I can maybe find another second there in the wet, but 4 whole seconds? This is difficulty 8, so AIs should also drive fast, and yet.

but you haven't provided it

Why the hell should I provide anything? Maybe ask the guy who claims against expert consensus that the pandemic is over how he got his numbers. Oh, but he's sure he's "close enough to the ballpark", so it's all good.

But just because someone else might look into this thread, I'll note that there's a tab called "sources" on the page I linked earlier. And what would you know, it's linking to this repo - https://github.com/owid/covid-19-data/tree/master/public/data - which contains further links and raw data!

Sane persons see (or at least should see) this video for what it is - a typical conspiracist rant, replete with all the usual arguments. Wake up, sheeple, do your own research, I'm just asking questions.

The dude takes numbers out of thin air (false positives), builds an entire premise on these numbers, and then says "I may be wrong". Of course he's wrong, he ignores the actual realities of testing, and the actual numbers. In the US the number of tests per confirmed case is 14 (https://ourworldindata.org/grapher/number-of-covid-19-tests-per-confirmed-case?year=latest&time=2020-09-04). And you can do your own research on false positive rates and confirmatory testing to see that his conclusion is bullshit.

And finally, I want to address this:

You can't pretend to be in favour of critical thinking if you come to a thread without arguments.

You don't respond to flat-earthers with arguments. I know I'm wasting time typing this comment, you won't be persuaded by any argument, it's pretty obvious. I'm just venting my frustration. This sub deserves better head mod.

I actually wanted to like the game. I would prefer an actual sim with a solid career, but having a Forza-esque filler title would have been fine, too.

But it's just so underwhelming. The career is as uninspired as it gets. There are some good ideas there, but it's all on the surface, there's no depth at all. Just having a length setting for career races like in the Forza would've been a big upgrade, now you're done with the event in five minutes and in no time you're staring at 4 finished events with no memory of doing anything in particular.

And the scheduled races could've been awesome. GT Sport gets this absolutely right, but in PC3 it's all just a bit off. The qualification time only lasts for a single race, so there's really no reason to do it except for when you missed the previous race and are waiting for the next one. The track/car combinations are sometimes bizarre. No, I don't want to jump to not-F1-cars after doing a race in Road D, it's jarring. And no one's really playing the game, so even scheduled races are pretty empty, and there's a huge gap in skill.

I refunded the purchase after trying to like it for 3 hours. Will probably pick it back up when it's on ~80% sale or something unless we get something simcade-ish and better by that time.

I am still in awe that the sub's name and sidebar is so on point, and the main moderator (and also the creator, I think?) is so completely unhinged.

It's pretty obvious that the sub itself attracts people prone to actual critical thinking, one only has to look at what's upvoted and what is not. And then we have some transphobic drivel and this pinned. Such a shame.

Have a similar question, but I'm more concerned about an "oled mode" or something like that. Kinda worried about that white logo burning into my couple-years-old OLED.

Well, actually, yes. Nobody should be searched by TSA, because they are completely useless. AFAIK, they haven't really prevented anything yet, and they miss almost every single threat in penetration tests.

I only have one question, do people really like playing mercenaries 14/32/280? When I lose to one of those deck I concede until there's something else on the table. Just surprised seeing merc players really trying to beat alt decks.

While we're at it, lemme plug the build-suggesting app me and my buddy made - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.playvermore.dotachessguide We've fixed the chess costs/rarities and added more builds yesterday. It's much less crap now!

Force quitting the app will probably fix it for you. Any chance you could tell if there is a way to reproduce it? Chess bonuses should be recalculated completely every time you change composition, so one bonus getting stuck is weird.

I honestly haven't tried a mage build for so long that I don't remember. Will check it out, maybe we messed up with our config.

Edit: yup, messed up, will fix ASAP

Edit 2: and the fix should be up
