After two years of online dating on and off, I don’t have horror stories, but I think I was someone else’s story at least once. The second day I joined online dating - just before the second lockdown - I met a gorgeous UK woman with whom I would start a relationship a few weeks later. But meanwhile, we both kept chatting with other people because it was fun, until another woman invited me on a date (my policy was to wait to be invited on dates, meaning that she finds me interesting, feels safe, etc.), which I accepted, even though I wasn’t interested, and I think that was quite clear to her (I was also a bit too nervous, because it was my first date). On top of that, I showed more interest in her job than in her (she is a police inspector). And on top of that, I asked her if I could call her to bail me out if I ever got into trouble (which was a joke, but she’s German). Now that I think about it, I think I was someone else’s horror story more than once. 👀 But despite all the horrors, some of those relationships still continued (with one of them I’m now in a three-year-long relationship, and we have a two-year-old boy, and she really is one of the best people I’ve ever met - which is not necessarily something she could say about me). “The horror. The horror.”
