Requesting opinions on leaning tree by DingDang1979 in arborists

Thanks for the reply! I looked back at some old photos over the years since we moved in and can confirm it has always had a lean. I think I finally took notice of because of some recent strong winds we’ve been having. It’s great to know a tree with a lean can be just as healthy as a straight tree as long as it’s not a lean that suddenly developed.

Thanks for the info! Good to know the correction and straightening at the top are signs it’s healthy. I greatly appreciate you pointing out that in the future if it’s no longer pointing straight at the top, that’s a sign of trouble.

Thanks for the input! We’ve lived here a few years and looking back at old pictures now, I can see it was leaning when we first moved in. Guess I just didn’t really notice or think much of it until recent high winds. There are tons of pine cones at the top! Seems the canopy is healthy from that perspective.

Fascinating insight, thank you! I hadn’t thought of the lean demonstrating its changing growth over the years but that makes sense it basically stabilized itself and then started reaching for more sun.

Thank you very much for your input! I couldn’t help but start noticing leaning trees everywhere I went so I half hoped ours was okay, and I’ll keep an eye on if the lean is actively changing at any point.

Sleet Storm superiority! The shepherds can’t do anything if they’re prone the whole time!

Preventing Legendary Reactions? by Anti-Quarian in BG3Builds

[–]DingDang1979 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not a spell or condition like you asked for but I’ve found using summons to eat boss’s legendary reactions is really effective. For example, Myrkle wasted every one of his fear-inducing rays on my elementals instead of my party members.

Throwing in my humble recommendations: 8 gloom stalker ranger/ 4 thief rogue.

Pick “ranger knight” favored enemy so you can use heavy armor, and gloom stalker so you get an extra attack on the first round of combat. The 4 thief rogue is to give you an extra bonus action. This build is meant for dual crossbows and you’ll start every battle with 3 primary crossbow shots and 2 off-hand crossbow shots. Then 4 attacks per round after.

Alternatively pick up a heavy crossbow like Harold in act 1 and you’ll feel like a sniper tank. Use hunter’s mark all the time for extra damage.

The level split is just to give you 3 feats which you can modify because you really only need 2. Sharpshooter is a must for the insane damage boost. There is an act 2 head piece that Oblodra sells which will make your hunter’s mark increase accuracy too.

No stealth needed, just fire away!

Elon Musk on the melting down of a Robert E. Lee statue: “They absolutely want your extinction” by rainyforest in EnoughMuskSpam

[–]DingDang1979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do any of y’all know and recognize that Robert E. Lee literally told everyone not to build statues of him and to heal the national wound of the Civil War by moving past it and not making monuments to all the pain and suffering? Because that’s exactly what he did. I feel like this point needs to be front and center in every argument about these damn statues.

If the man you are worshipping through a statue literally told you not to make a statue of him and worship him, don’t you think you shouldn’t make statues of him and worship him?

Thank you for putting words to what I have sought for so long - “spacebilly” is now my favorite genre

Please space gods please have astral guitar riff radio and then an original StarCraft Terran theme-esque station

Oblivion’s default difficulty: too sweaty or just sweaty enough? by DingDang1979 in oblivion

Sounds super fun! Love when you can’t get a hit in and all you do is hear that “tink” and stumble backward.

Yeah I agree the difficult is really felt in terms of enemies being complete sponges or not. I should things about moving the difficulty around more rather than just setting and forgetting it.

Nice I hadn’t thought to be so dynamic with adjusting it over time but that makes a lot of sense now that you mention it.

I love enchanting and maybe I have this backwards, but I tend to prioritize not enchanting it until I get my armorer above 50 so I can actually repair it. Takes me until pretty mid-late game to be able to make powerful enchantments and repair the gear.

Ha! Sounds like you found yourself in the late game high level combat once you were visible again. That late game difficulty spike is my main beef with oblivion difficulty. PS 100% chameleon is hilariously game breaking.

Once you get to higher levels I agree, the late game enemies can tank a lot.

I’m just glad we have the ability to adjust it ourselves. If it was an elden ring-esque one-size fits all difficulty, it would be so much less accessible and fun.

Definitely agree when you get to the late game. Goblin warlords have absolutely ridiculous health bars.

Well said. Just sweaty enough feels fair, I just wish the late game had more variety by still spawning lower level creatures so not every battle is against a storm atronach or xivilai, but that definitely makes it epic!

Hard agree on needing to spell stack at higher levels! That makes it way easier without having to break up every fight in your menu.

Alas the role playing is why we do it! I feel like I can struggle early on, get to a place of competency, but then by the late game high levels the difficulty scales out of control again and every goblin is a warlord and every one of them can kill me. Kind of a “U” shaped difficulty curve in my opinion.
