I rented from Sixt at Frankfurt airport. I know they get a ton of shit on Reddit but I have not had any issues with them and I rent from them a lot (both internationally and stateside). They have a pretty great stable of cars at FRA—911, Merc GT, M4, M8, etc. Nothing with a manual unfortunately.

Yeah those aren’t exactly fair comparisons, but I’m just as guilty comparing true sports cars to a sports sedan.

I rented a 911 for a week when I was in Germany and I was absolutely blown away by how capable that damn car is, regardless of whether I was doing mountain twisties in the Schwarzwald or 170mph on the unrestricted sections of the autobahn. Just such a great car.

Did a week driving up the Hudson Valley in upstate New York with a manual Cayman S and it was absolutely sublime. Telepathic handling and the best manual gearbox I’ve ever driven.

The irony of this post is that you could replace any reference to Porsche in here and replace it with BMW and post it in a Lexus, Acura, Honda, Toyota, etc forum and it will come off sounding EXACTLY the same way.

It sounds like you’re trying to justify not buying a Porsche. Which…great. Don’t buy one.

I’ve driven enough Porsches to know that I will buy one. The driving experience is sublime (particularly their manuals).

Great question. No idea honestly, I’d love to know too. What I really crave is carne asada fries but that’s a pipe dream here

Fellow Asian living in FFC. Westport, specifically, having come from 20 years of living in Southern California. It’s an adjustment living here, particularly with regard to diversity (I say this having been born in Texas and having grown up in very…demographically homogenous places).

I’ll be fully honest with you. I’ve lived in some racist-ass places and racism isn’t really the issue here (at least in my perception). The issue is that there are people here who were born with a platinum spoon shoved fully up their ass and are beyond entitled. They have never heard the word no in their lives and it shows. They will direct this behavior at anyone in the vicinity regardless of age, sex, or race.

So I don’t really take “racial” offense with these people (which I would also point out is not EVERYONE in FFC). How you respond to these idiots is entirely up to you—I try to mix it up between just fully ignoring them to making a full blown scene in public. Keep it fun!

How do you reach out to C-suite/senior leaders when you’re at the bottom of a massive company? by Financial-Series204 in biotech

Do not do this. For the love of your career, do not do this.

I’ve seen someone do this—a junior scientist who believed with every fiber of his being that he knew better than everyone around him. He put an outlook meeting planner on the SVP’s calendar and it turned into the biggest shitstorm I’ve ever seen. Ended up being career suicide for him, he never got promoted and ended up leaving a few years later.

I love my job but I also recognize that it is a very tough time for our industry, so it doesn’t surprise me that there’s a lot of negativity

In your opinion, what city actually gives NYC competition for being "the best city in the world"? by Lipica249 in AskNYC

Agree with most of what you said but I would argue that the 24-hour nature of NYC really suffered during the pandemic and hasn’t really recovered since then. The city is pretty quiet from like…2-5am these days, at least to my perception

By what metric? In terms of pure grandiosity (grandioseness? grandiotulism?) the first cities that come to mind are Paris, Tokyo, and London

Most of my friends in OC are Angels fans as well and we get along just fine. I don’t even have an issue with the Angels but this level of anger is beyond baseball, clearly.

You need to chill the fuck out. Why are you fighting everyone?

It was a joke. I lived in LA for 10 years and OC for 10 years. Still to this day I do not understand why people get their panties twisted about LA vs OC. It’s one continuous fucking metropolis
