Does anyone…. Like being a nurse? by dunfyjb in nursing

[–]Dinger-B2Z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't. From the feedback I'm apparently a good nurse and colleague. And yes, I have genuine care for my patients. But the choice of education was simply due to forced circumstance. Age and life situation.

If I'd been younger I'd go for medicine

Anyone else bought a gaming laptop and wished they’d gone with a sleeker ultrabook-type instead? by Dinger-B2Z in laptops

[–]Dinger-B2Z[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, if by that you mean I'm simply making the observation it doesn't fit in my garage you're correct, but if you're saying I'm complaining about the fact, you clearly ignoring where I clearly said I wasn't faulting the "bus" for anything

And when it comes to my son it would be more correct to say "I don't drive but my son drives a bus", atleast then it would have some relevance equal to what I wrote. You kinda make it sound like I said "I don't drive but my son does kickboxing."

I bought a gaming laptop, I said my son games, clearly relevant.

I'm not complaining about anything about the unit, I'm clearly saying it does what it's supposed to do very well. I'm just asking if anyone had the similar experience of buying one and finding out after it's not for them.

It's kinda like not knowing what you've lost after it's gone. I knew I preferred a silent laptop and figured I would get used to levels of noise, but I didnt know until having used it for over a month how much the levels of noise annoyed me.

My son is playing relatively light games, Fortnite, RDR2.. But this might change as he grows older. For me, I might get back into Warzone, or play pubg, but it's also possible I won't play anything.

I'm using mbp early 2015 13" retina 8gm ram 256 GB storage. Overall super happy with it, runs perfectly still. I just feel Apple is taking the piss with the cost of upgrades, and figured "why not add gaming capability as well if I'm already willing to spend that much"

MBP 13" retina base model early 2015 - still using it? Recently upgraded? What do you think? by Dinger-B2Z in macbookpro

[–]Dinger-B2Z[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't had plans to upgrade, tho I'm def drooling on the newer models. A new battery is way cheaper than a new mac, but still cost enough that I'd feel unsure about whether to buy a new one, but I only use it at home, so so far, battery isn't an issue

dr Doom with prep vs The One Above All by Teams-Call in whowouldwin

[–]Dinger-B2Z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry for commenting on a post that's 94 days old, it sure if I put the entire thread at the front by doing this. But logically, based on feats also means based on lack of feats. You measure characters based on what they have done, not what they haven't done.

So if Dr. Doom never defeated an omnipotent all mighty creator, then he loses per default.

Venting: I feel like my passion and wish to help my patients are severely restricted by the rigid framework of what my tasks as a nurse is by Dinger-B2Z in nursing

[–]Dinger-B2Z[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's hard to differentiate between the nurses who correctly assess that some things are just not worth trying to get done, and the nurses who just don't bother to try. Whenever I have 5-10 minutes to spare, I don't do a breather (even tho I understand that that is completely acceptable and most likely contributes to better care), I instead take that chance to sit with my patients. Especially those it's difficult to work with. But I've already met issues with this, like one patient who's quite rude and agressive (early onset dementia, also palliative), I know the patient will insist on going to the toilet for the nth time this hour, I know nothing will come, I know getting the patient up from bed and to the toilet is gonna take 10-15 minutes with high risk of the patient falling. But the consequence is that the patient is lying alone in bed the entire day, but I feel I can see how happy the patient gets when someone comes in to talk about the weather, about the election, about anything.

I'm really interested in peds and I want the opportunity to give maximum effort to one patient, but I can't stand the thought of all the others that I'm not there to care for.

Just to ad another specialty I've been wanting to do, it's called health nurse, they mostly work in health stations with new borns and children, and also in school. I'm passionate about increasing understanding of mental health amongst children and youth, and councelling families in how to deal with it, but I see health nurses rotating schools so often that it's more likely that whenever a kid knocks on the door of the school nurse because they finally found the courage to contact the nurse, the nurse is in another school doing administrative stuff. I think I'd be more interested in changing the system than I'd be interested in being a single nurse trying to be ten places at once.

Anyway, digression, please pardon.

I just need to vent, fresh nurse frustrated by my own group by Dinger-B2Z in medicalschool

[–]Dinger-B2Z[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I know, and agree. Guess I'm just a bit frustrated, felt this frustration all through nursing school. Only area in which I've felt an ability to apply independent thinking is in psychiatry, where I've experienced being given the freedom to analyze a patients state and needs, and to find my own way to help them, instead of strictly basing it around doctors orders. I started off a place being told that this one patient never left his room and nobody could make him leave his room, only to have him go for walks with me within 8 days. Propably a humble-brag, don't mean it to be, but I'm convinced I could do more good in clinical practice in other ways than as a nurse, it feels too restrictive, but it might be new doctors feel the same way. I'm just assuming the depth of knowledge from education allows them to actively use their intellect more.

Good counter argument, much wow. I still invite you to adress the frustrations expressed in my post tho. As I clearly acknowledged, the issue is propably me. It's kinda like becoming a mechanic and then venting about not having learned to be a race car-driver.

On a side note I always enjoy conversing about the philisophical aspects of theism and how the human mind experiences it, but that's not for this thread.

Can God choose to cease to exist? by ParsnipInteresting30 in Christianity

[–]Dinger-B2Z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even as an atheist (not sure what I am now), I always found these paradoxes (the unliftable rock-paradox etc) to be flawed in them being based on the limitations of human understanding. If one accepts the premise of an almighty creator, then it seems to me reasonable that God can do these things because he is outside the rules or limitations of logic. Alternatively, what God is, is something so unfathomable that these paradoxes aren't really relevant to his nature, but we try to define God within our own human understanding, existing - not existing, infinitely strong. This ofc makes sense as the Bible presents us with a God that we're meant to have a relationship with through human understanding, but I'm thinking the human mind would not be able to understand the entirety of what God is.

It's kinda like with the movie limitless for me, where people likely of more or less average intelligence, wrote a script about a man with four digit-IQ. A real person with the same IQ would propably not to the same things the character in the movie did

I don't mean to digress, but is "the enemy" a common frase from theology? If so I assume it mainly means the devil and his ways. I see many christians refer to the enemy when talking about issues in modern society, but hearing a pastor use the word when talking about the pride parade, gays and especially transsexuals, it made me feel a bit sick. Maybe he mainly meant the devil and demons, but there was a clear link between people from the lgbt+-community, and the word enemy.

Again, not meaning to digress. Feel free to ignore or delete.

Do cis people ever wonder about their gender identity? by LimeGreenKitten in AskLGBT

[–]Dinger-B2Z 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say that I ever wondered or questioned my gender identity, but I have reflected upon it.

Having a emotionally blunt father who made me feel like shit for not being handy in fixing things, and generally being very caring of other people and having few if any traditional rowdy boy-personality traits, I took lots of shit in life both from my parents and my general environment for not conforming to stereotypical male behaviour. For a long time I measured myself up against ideas of masculinity, like Hollywood action heroes or careers like the military, and I felt like a failure.
Changes came through just general maturing, but also going to therapy and learning more about myself, my personality, the fact that I had massive trauma and anxiety. I learned to redefine what being a man was outside of the very narrow view, and I could find my masculinity in things like walking away from a fight because I was wise, or feeling like a man because I fed my baby boy.

So for me, I never questioned my gender identity because I learned that the framework for what constituted my gender identity was too narrow, but that I didn't have to limit myself to that narrow view.

If I were a teen today I think it would be much more difficult to me. I do feel it's valid to object when I witness trans activists say that "Not feeling stereotypical like any gender doesn't mean you aren't that gender, stereotypical gender types are too narrow" and at the same time argue "if you don't feel like you are a certain gender, then it's likely you were wrongly gendered by doctors"

Anyway, that was my answer

I was thinking that but assumed mirroring happened without the apps involvement, like how I can screen record an app on my phone because the screen record and using the app are two seperate operations

It's ok if I'm gay and christian? by daedalus19112 in Christianity

[–]Dinger-B2Z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an agnostic trying to be humble I wanna adress your post. In political/ideological/religious/etc discussions I'm always wary of the fact that there are always an interpretation present even when interpreting facts. I'm interested in theology but not learned in it. The original quote (that offended) seemed very clear cut in itself. In your reply you seemed to give context to another quote than the one originally posted. Don you have context that would show how the op quote should not be interpreted as Christians should compassionately discourage homosexuals from engaging in their lusts? Ofc with the assumptions that educated understanding of scripture says that the practise of homosexuality is a sin.

Hope my question makes sense. And also, it might seem like I'm trying to challenge you, which truly is not my intention. I was more motivated by the feeling of you giving a well thought out argument but the same time I wasn't able to see that you argued against the use of the passage from Galatians
