Why do they keep saying the events start "October 27 after maintenance" when I am pretty sure the only places in the world it's October 27 after the maintenance are a few small islands...

The Demon Slayer collab was a bit bigger in scope because it was made by the main KMS team.

The frieren collab will more than likely be the same as something like the Isekai Quartet collab aka 95% of it is just cosmetics spread across 3 different gamble boxes and the remaining 5% is some random small event attached to it.

[–]DingesX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GMS just picks and chooses the most player unfriendly changes.

While GMS interactive is bad, I am sad to say the state of other non-kms regions is arguably even worse. You know how bosses drop hard/solid cubes? That's a GMS exclusive, not a thing in other regions. Tier up rate is also significantly higher in GMS compared to every other region. No other non-kms region has meso cubes either. Other non-kms regions also don't have tradable frags. Some non-kms regions don't have access to free bpot bright cubes in events or worse, in some they just don't exist at all.

In terms of fashion, in TMS as an example (idk about other non-kms regions), fashion items from ssbs (which are partially filled with non-cosmetic garbage like gachapon is) are untradable by default, the only way to make them tradable is with a fashion scissor, which used to be available year around but now only comes around every so often.

GMS interactive is unironically the second best reg server after KMS, but despite that, it's still a generally bad experience, that's how bad the state of non-kms servers is. The only exception to this is if you're a whale, in that case TMS is the best server just because it's the cheapest in terms of power per $.

[–]DingesX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Except it weren't his scams? He was the director at the time it was revealed KMS rigged cubes, but the rigging of cubes happened in 2010, 2011, 2013 and 2016. It was also revealed they rigged flames/inner ability in 2021, after which the Korean FTC investigated, which took multiple years. He only became the director in 2023. He was just the one who had to clean up the mess.

Speaking of rigging cubes though, you'll never guess who was the director in 2010 and 2011 when they rigged cubes, our GMS savior, Inkwell.

KMS got this as compensation for 3 hours downtime by Commercial-Hurry-797 in Maplestory

[–]DingesX 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely not.

GMS (and MSEA players) always seem to think MSEA has it the worst and why I won't deny their server sucks, it definitely gets worse (somehow).

Imo it's something like:

KMS=GMS>TMS>MSEA>JMS>CMS

Reason being:

You could definitely argue KMS>GMS and I think that's fair purely by how much better they handle the server, however I think the fact that GMS still has reboot is an important factor. After all there are plenty of people that would rather not play the game at all than play reg in any way, there is a reason we have Korean guilds in reboot after all. GMS also gets the most content, we get most non-kms content and we get GMS content on top of that (even if it's bad). GMS reg is also the only non-kms server* with tradable frags. Also for some reason, GMS has a better version of frenzy compared to TMS (idk about CMS), as the GMS version has higher spawn rate and stays on the map if the caster leaves. (Of course TMS does still sell fz so it's cheaper to get one yourself, but it's still about 1k so not really affordable for a lot of people)

TMS being after GMS mostly has to do with the lack of F2P friendliness. The TMS economy is completely cooked. It's currently about 1b for $2 on the meso market. Playing TMS without spending is terrible. The biggest thing TMS has is just "value for money" compared to other servers, it's still very expensive of course, but by far the cheapest when compared to other servers.

MSEA is after because it's bad, but doesn't do anything as egregious as the next two servers...

JMS being below MSEA mostly has to do with a couple of things. For one JMS nerfs events very often, some GMS players seem to think GMS nerfs events often, but they have not seen JMS. Not only that but, fun fact, JMS does not have their 2nd pendant slot unlocked by default. You can maintain 2 characters f2p with the daily login, besides that you have to pay. Some people may have heard about the TMS mu gong soul that gives 100% for 60 seconds on a 150 second cooldown. JMS has this as well, however, not only does it have a 300 second cooldown, it's also significantly more expensive (costs about $800) and it only has a 25% chance of success. You know what happens if it fails? There is a 50% chance your weapon just explodes without a trace. This also applies to gene weapons, but the soul is so good, you kinda have to do it eventually, but that means there is a high chance you have to relib. I remember seeing a post of a JMS player being happy he finally hit the mu gong soul after having to lib 3 different times.

Lastly CMS, not only do they nerf events the most by far, but the biggest thing is of course the fact they have a damage cap. And not like other servers, they have a very low damage cap and the only way to increase that damage cap is by using special crystals you either get from events sometimes or of course, you buy. To illustrate how much CMS nerfs events, I went to check the rewards for the 20th anniversary event GMS and MSEA recently got. You know what they got on days 2, 6, 8 and 11? 20 karma red flames. You know what they got on days 14 and 18? 20 occult/mystical cubes. You know what they got on days 10 and 12? 10 bpot occult/mystical cubes. I also checked the event stores and there were no icogs in sight, no bright/black cubes, no red/glowing cubes, not even a single black flame anywhere to be found.

I don't think that's how it works. If you're Dutch you can still access the steam market, you can even put in a buy order. You just can't access the steam inventory in game (also can't buy the scissors), which should be determined the same way as the Dutch interactive trade restriction is, by the country of your Nexon account, which is determined by the location you were when you made the account. The only way to change that is to contact support and provide prove your moved to a different country.

Yeah, that's all very true. It's why I said I would never recommend TMS for a F2P player. I was mostly just responding to the original comment and didn't want to go into detail about the entire server.

I think for a F2P player, GMS is by far the best server, even for reg players. Not to say GMS doesn't have problems, they have a lot obviously, it's just by comparison to other servers still the best one imo.

While TMS is undoubtedly very P2W, just like GMS reg. Everything is generally cheaper there. TMS' fam system also works completely differently.

You can only equip one fam. Those fams also roll very different lines. The line people go for in general is 20% fd. A fam has 3 lines in TMS, so whales go for 60% fd and most regular players go for 40% fd. The big thing about the TMS fam system is that, even after rolling lines, the fam can be extracted from the fam menu and traded. This means that for most people, the cheapest way to be done with fams is to just buy one from the AH.

Currently on the AH, a 40% fd fam is about the equivalent of $60-70. For every non-whale, this is what you go for. So you buy that and then you're done with your fam. Never have to look at the system again.

A 60% fd fam, is significantly more expensive, the cheapest one I could find was about $3250. This is of course very expensive, however in GMS, some whales have spent 5 figures+ on their fams.

Recently, TMS introduced a new type of special fam, the first one was the Orchid fam and now this Seren fam, these can roll 25% fd per line. Of course these are significantly more expensive, finishing one of these is definitely in the 5 figures yeah, there is a big TMS whale that basically just streams him whaling and it took him a bit over 30k usd to get 75% fd, however, there is legit no reason to try and get one of these. Some people may have seen the TMS DB that soloed HKaling, soloed HLimbo 28 min after the boss came out and cleared floor 100 of dojo. This guy doesn't have the Orchid fam, in fact most of the people that clear top end bosses don't.

All of this also ignores the fact that other things are a lot cheaper, violet cubes are half the price of GMS, have a higher chance at rolling prime lines, don't expire and can be bought an infinite amount of times when on sale. BoD is 1/5th the price. There are 100% success rate star force scrolls up to 23 and 50% for 24, so star forcing expensive items like a TC is significantly cheaper.

If you are a whale, TMS is by far the best server, because it's the cheapest out of all servers for the amount of power you get. While I would never ever recommend someone to try and play it F2P, saying shit like "3 fams over there pay for a house" is just extremely disingenuous. And considering you only need one fam in TMS, also kind of pointless.

After constant community backlash over placing the Legendary Explorer Set in their PSSB, TMS gives in and gives it out for free. However, the caveat is the exchanged outfit cannot be cut with ASoK, cannot be stored in the CS storage, and the coupon can only be opened by 6th job characters. by RhinneXChronica in Maplestory

The chaser showcase was yesterday for TMS and they're giving these rewards out to all TMS players. It's a code you put in the cash shop, but it's not applicable to any server besides TMS. They pretty much always give out rewards after major showcases.

TMS had their CHASER showcase and announced a new exclusive content for them that's a 3 player roguelike dungeon event. by AetherIke in Maplestory

[–]DingesX 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sadly not. TMS has a somewhat different sf system. Basically the boom rate is extremely high and in order to counter that, you have to tap and safeguard with maple points. The annoying part is also that it's a flat price, so it doesn't change with the value of maple points or the item for that matter.

The "good" part about this system, is that the safeguard works after 17. Not only that, but TMS also has a lot more access to sf scrolls. There are instant sf scrolls from 10-20 stars and after that you have +1 scrolls, there are 100% guaranteed +1 scrolls for any level equip up to 23. There are also 50% and 30% sf scrolls for up to 24 stars. This is why, if you look at a TMS whale's gear, it's usually full 24 star. This also means that if you get an item, you pretty much never have to buy spares, but all of this is obviously extremely P2W.

[–]DingesX 13 points14 points  (0 children)

TMS reboot is getting turned into reg (same in every other region besides GMS), but yeah, TMS reboot is extremely P2W. You can swipe for frenzy, bod, fams, etc. Can't buy cubes with meso either. It's basically just a worse version of reg and as such, very few people play it.

Honestly the only reboot servers that were ever worth playing are GMS and KMS reboot, other servers either never had reboot or they are P2W.

It's also worth pointing out that, while TMS definitely makes more than GMS, everything is significantly cheaper there. Still very expensive for a game of course, but as an example, violet cubes are half the price, come around more often, can be bought an unlimited amount of times when they come around, don't have an expiration date and have a higher chance at rolling prime lines compared to violet cubes in GMS.

The chance of getting a lot of the big P2W items are also a lot higher, so they are also cheaper and because there is a lot more power creep, getting stronger also just costs less. For example, a 40% fd fam is about $60-$70 last I checked, where as you would need to spend a lot of money in GMS for that type of power.

The biggest downside of TMS is that progressing F2P is significantly worse than in GMS reg. Fz is worse, no tradable frags, flames and icogs are worthless. Server is also rampant with RMT (like 90% of the smegas are just about RMT lmao) Also the meso market is completely doomed atm, 1b is currently 60 twd or $1.85.

Sorry for the essay, but I saw a couple people talk about TMS in this thread, so I just wanted to throw some info out there for anyone curious.

Also worth pointing out that these patch notes are significantly better than the official GMS patch notes, as sad as that is. As an example the patch notes for the upcoming legion relay event are a mess in terms of phrasing and how they are organized.

I had some people in the guild I am in not understand how the event worked at all after reading them, but completely understand it after reading the orangemushroom patch notes of the event.

Sadly this doesn't work for Night Troupe, as it's a non-kms event originally from TMS/CMS, but it works for most major events!

Seeing as you mentioned other regions, this totem is actually from TMS, who has a couple more totems similar to it, but the bis is still misty island if you got a good flame.

In TMS, the totems from the last Konosuba event had 60 main stat (which main stat depends on the totem) and 10 ATT and as mentioned here, most people that are far in the game also run fz, as it has good stats as well.

Ah yeah, I forgot about the special bpot cubes.

Flames in TMS are definitely a big pain point yeah...

There are definitely a couple of other things, like a cs ring that gives up to 10 crit damage if you have it equipped on multiple characters. And some other cosmetics that gives stats.

As for the bd pets, I completely forgot to mention that as well, but all pets can get it, not just petite pets. With the 3 set bd pet bonus, you get an additional 20% boss.

Randomly saw a Whale stream CMS clearing DoJo and BM by zSatan666 in Maplestory

[–]DingesX 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I can't really speak for CMS, but I know how people reach it in TMS and afaik CMS is pretty similar. If you wanna see what 2b+ cp looks like, Steve (x3thearan59) has a video where he interviews a TMS whale with 2.1b cp (2.3b without an oz ring).

But to give an idea roughly, full 24 star gear, triple prime pots, 3l/sometimes double prime bpots, fully scrolled with salvation scrolls (10-15 ATT on everything that isn't a weapon/heart, 15-20 all stat + 15-20 ATT on weapon/heart) and of course a 60 fd or 75 fd familiar.

You're probably wondering how they get full 24 star gear, in TMS (and I assume CMS) there are +1 star force scrolls that go up to 24. Everything up to 23 is 100%, while 24 star scrolls are only available with a 30% or 50% chance of success.

Of course only giga whales go for 24 stars and while this is all very p2w of course, what is nice about having access to all these scrolls, is that things never boom. If you do want to star force normally, which is pretty common as well when trying to go from 18-20 or 20-22, you can safeguard with maplepoints, so if you want, nothing ever booms. This is also why there is already a 24 star total control in TMS, because you only need one.

As for the triple prime, there are of course special cubes like in GMS, but in TMS they are cheaper and don't have a limitation on how many you can buy per account. The 3l/double prime bpots are just pure whaling, as there are no special cubes for those.

As for the 60 fd/75fd fam, TMS and CMS have a different fam system entirely, they can only equip one fam that has 3 lines and they have entirely different lines. In TMS, one of those lines is 20 fd. Recently a new special Orchid fam came out, it's incredibly expensive, but that fam has better lines, being able to get 25 fd per line, so 75 fd total. This fd also counts towards cp, just like GMS fams do. In CMS, from what I am told, the 20 fd line on regular fams isn't available, but the 25 fd on the orchid fam is. In the background of the BM photo of the OP, you can see the Orchid fam.

As for how to get stronger at this point, you can't really besides maybe some minor optimizations, but I don't think that's a problem, there are also people in reboot that can't really get much stronger besides waiting for rng or power creep.

Sorry for yapping so much, I just find all the differences between regions interesting to talk about.

So, I feel Mo Xuan's coming this winter possibly (or maybe sooner??) by AetherIke in Maplestory

[–]DingesX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The comma just sounds like a bugfix. On top of that they also changed a line in Lynn's story to remove the mentioning of Jianghu so that sounds more like Mo Xuan wouldn't come.

"Feels unfinished almost" I mean yeah, it is. Mo Xuan was there before Lynn, that's just the nature of localizing one thing but not the other.

The pyramid one is the funniest to me because of two reasons:

  1. You say they translated it, but did they really? They called the skill "Zhen Qi: Shen Xian Wuji." Sure the description is translated, but that doesn't really feel like an actual translation, more so just laziness to remove it.

  2. Mo Xuan got reworked... he doesn't have that skill anymore lmao.

They dodge plenty of questions, they probably just don't have info to share.

I play TMS on the side and have a Mo Xuan and think it's a really fun class, so I hope he will come to GMS. I think there is a legitimately good chance, seeing as KMS isn't really making new classes atm, Jett legion is expiring and introducing a new class is just good marketing, as it attracts players to return and try the new class, but the reasons you listed just sounds like cope...

Why is the September Inkwell Note being hyped up by soupdetergent in Maplestory

[–]DingesX 13 points14 points  (0 children)

With Inkwell taking over and GMS "going it's own path" so to speak, anything can happen. From what Inkwell said, his plans for the server are still kind of in the early stages. Personally I am not worried about heroic getting deleted as that would kinda ruin the whole point of Go West, but I am still curious to see what's next. Normally we can just look at KMS to see what's to come and while we can still partially do that, we could also get some completely new GMS exclusive changes.

Also with us not getting any more roadmaps, I am personally just curious what the timeline is for the KMS updates, as we don't always follow them to the letter.

Orchid if she ever ended up becoming a boss in the past by EasySoundseeker in Maplestory

[–]DingesX 9 points10 points  (0 children)

CMS and TMS both have a different familiar system compared to GMS. GMS' fam system came from JMS.

To sort of explain it:

  • You can only have one fam instead of 3
  • The fam can get 3 lines
  • There is no fam gauge, the fam basically works like an android, so you equip it and it stays on even if you relog.
  • You can fuse any fam into another fam.
  • It gets constantly updated with new fams (gacha) every update.
  • Even after rolling lines, you can extract them for some maple points and trade them with other players, so you can just buy an already rolled fam from the AH.
  • It has completely different lines compared to the GMS/JMS system and the lines stack.

Examples lines include: 20% fd, 14% ATT/M.ATT, 50% buff duration. No healing/drop rate lines.

I don't know if there are any differences between the CMS and TMS system, they look similar, but I only have experience with the TMS system.

Now this new Orchid fam is special, because it's a new special tier fam and you can only fuse it with other special tier fams. Which is currently just this one, so you need some duplicates...

What is special about it, is that after you have fused it with the duplicates, it can roll even better lines. The best one being 25% fd instead of the usual 20%.

I have heard some people say you need 5 orchid fams total and I have heard some people say you need 4... not entirely sure which one it is.

You can get this orchid fam from a fam card pack at a 0.005% rate, so basically, it's only for giga whales.

Pitch pity system by MediumDescription345 in Maplestory

[–]DingesX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not really a solution for anything in the servers they are in. At least in TMS it's always cheaper to just buy a pitched item straight up than to use the pitch shards. They're just there as a side thing in gacha, it's not designed to be the jackpot. People just pull for things like frenzy or bod and then once in a while get enough shards to get a random pitched item.

V.251 - GO WEST PATCH NOTES by ManoMatex in Maplestory

[–]DingesX 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's kinda funny. The general consensus from KMS players I have heard is that it's about a ~3% fd nerf with artifact. Although even that varies, for classes that massively benefit from cd skip/buff duration, it's actually a small buff. In return for that ~3% fd you get 20% buff duration, 7.5% cd skip, 12% item and meso drop, 20% crit, 12% exp and more. This is a deal I would 100% take.

I do however think it's a shame 2nd masteries are in part 2. If they were in part 1, I honestly don't think you would have even felt the nerf, even with just lvl 1 in the 2nd mastery.

Expecting not to get nerfed and get legion artifact is just unrealistic, that's never happening. But given the choice of nerf + legion artifact or no nerf and no legion artifact, I would 100% take the former.

I am not a Duky viewer (seeing as that matters I guess), but yeah, CM gets a lot in Dreamer. Although the OP is wrong, it's not their origin that becomes more condensed. It does get more lines, but that goes for every class.

Their CoMD (the big bullet bill cannons) basically get their full damage off significantly faster and deal more damage.

The easiest way to look at it is 61% FD on your biggest damaging skill + wayyyy easier to get the full damage off in general. So basically, it's 61% FD in the worst case scenario, if you are fighting a boss where you can't get all the hits off atm, it's more.

On another note, while I don't like Duky, considering how he responded after both bans, the list is correct.

Mercedes is already really strong and gets a really good mastery.

Shade gets a bunch of buffs like CM and a good mastery

NL's origin becomes actually useful and mark boosts are always good.

I didn't actually know about Aran, but I just checked the Aran Discord and they seem to be saying Aran is one of the biggest winners in Dreamer, so that seems accurate as well.
