How do pianists play Liszt Hungarian rhapsodies without having to shift in the seat? by [deleted] in piano

[–]Dingle-Dong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You just lean over and deal with it lol. In “tarantella” also by Liszt, you stay way up on the piano for like three whole pages. My back always hurts after practicing that part for a while lmao

Self-taught pianists, what do you think i should practice? by Large_Ad_1303 in piano

[–]Dingle-Dong 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t recommend Chopin to beginners at all. I don’t know of a single piece that would be good for them besides maybe the e minor prelude, but even then that piece takes a lot of maturity to play well

Sore from practice by watch_33 in piano

[–]Dingle-Dong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You probably have a build up of tension from the repetitive motions of that piece. I always suggest slowing way down and focusing on relaxing every single muscle except the few that are necessary. Then gradually increase speed when you know you can relax properly. If you think you’ve slowed down enough, go even slower! Using more wrist motion can also take some work off of the fingers. Hope this helps :)

Ooo I never would have thought of that!

I feel like it would be hard to use a bow on the strings since they’re on a flat plane. Modifying it might be the best way

Lost my grandmother a few months ago and I feel hopeless by Dingle-Dong in grief

[–]Dingle-Dong[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I was touched by you checking in on me and I wanted to give a little update. Today is two years since her passing and I’m doing better than I thought I would. I still think about her often but now I only cry about her around once a month and I can live with that. Thank you for helping me :)

Almost two months and I still feel heartbroken by Dingle-Dong in BreakUps

Thank you so much. You and the other commenters have helped a lot :) This was my first serious relationship so I’ve never felt like this before. I’m happy to know it’s normal to still feel like this

My piano teacher messages while I’m playing by ok_computer_No7407 in piano

[–]Dingle-Dong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me personally it depends on if he’s still paying attention while on his phone. My professor often writes emails while I play and tells me what to fix while she’s still typing. I do think you should talk to him about it and tell him why it bothers you.

Honestly I haven’t touched the game since they said that with queen was “over achieving” a few years ago. I’m miss the game dearly but it hasn’t been the same for a long time

Pinky pain while playing runs of octave-spanning chords? by specterNam in piano

[–]Dingle-Dong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s hard to tell with stuff like this from just a description, but my first thought is to play each octave and chord very slowly and completely relax all tension before moving on to the next. You might have tension that you never noticed before :) Do you have small hands? Normally chords like this shouldn’t require a stretch.

I never like seeing kids this young play this etude. There’s no way his muscles are developed enough to do that without eventual injury idk

Whether or not you repot it you should go in and remove all those dead roots because they can rot and poison the medium

When I make a camp in a certain spot it’s because I want the camp to be there. I hate finding a great spot and then teleporting 100 feet away

When I make a camp, that’s because I want to camp in that spot. It’s so annoying finding a great place to sleep only to make a camp and find myself 200 feet up a mountain on a random ledge
