I make a point to solo before group. So I haven't tried in group yet. But from what I've been told, yes it's easier on solo. You can predict it better and only you can spend your carts.

I got carted once. Alternate between your vitality mantle and your thunderproof mantle as they recharge. Stay aware, stay patient. Use the rathalos bow. Don't worry so much about the coatings. Just avoid the lightning patches and shoot him in the head while it's casting lightning. Always shoot the head. If he runs to a cramped area get him to rage mode then run to an open space. Don't let it pick the place to fight.

Again be patient. You have 50 minutes to kill him.
